The Shilo Inn is easy walking distance to a grocery store, Tully's or espresso, lots of gift shops (mostly selling mass-produced stuff made in China), kites, homemade ice cream and donuts (pretty good!) and the main access to the beach. I have never stayed at this particular Shilo, but have stayed at others. This hotel is right on the beach access, which is a blessing and a fault. Far too much traffic for the location. I ran a conference here a few years ago and was not impressed. Food was mediocre, staff was pretty clueless, the workout room is in the lobby, wifi was uncooperative, and the conference facilities are in serious need of updating. My room had a great view of the ocean, but that's the only thing it had going for it. more

My only let-down was that the fireplace was electric (no actual fire), and worked on a timer, so when you're watching a nice looking fire, you hear the timer (40 or so min.) ticking away. The stay in Ocean Shores Shilo Inn was terrific. I had an Ocean View that was out of this world. The room was very efficient, clean, and fully equipped with even a T.V. in the bathroom!
