Newport has few choices. I found 2 to be exact. But 6 miles up the road (Priest River, Idaho)is a great clean motel ( Eagles Nest) My impression of the Golden Spur: BAD!! First, GPS address was wrong. We could not even find it at first. After we found it, the entire parking lot was empty. That was a little... More

I think the place is actually pretty cozy and inviting. It is placed on a pretty busy corner, so there is some traffic. There aren't many lodging options in Newport, and I thought the place was nice enough. It was a family run motel, and the customer service was kind and respectful. There was no breakfast, but it was affordable.... More

This was a terrible experience. I spoke with their representive explained I have a 5 year old grandson and asked if it was a clean and safe hotel,,,she replied in broken English very safe. This is the dirtiest, disgusting, meth place I have ever stayed. And they charged $75 a night! All night partying, fighting, yelling, slamming doors, but the... More

Don't expect fancy here but it is clean and had the standard TV, microwave and fridge. Rooms not new by long shot and didn't have fruit baskets or complimentary bar but were great if you were looking for sleep. Attendant's are the owners and they take some pride in their place with flower baskets all around. They are watered daily... More

There are not many choices in Newport, however, being with a group of cyclists who had to stop in Newport, we ended up at the Golden Spur, I felt empathy for the family attempting to run this hotel, but our experience was less than stellar. Many of the rooms are outdated, and the exterior needs some work. The double bed... More

I red some of the reviews, but decided to check for myself. Well everyone was right in their statements. Its not that great. But there is other motels around, so I guess there is a little bit for everyone in the area. This motel works if you just need a cheap room and a place to crash really bad.

We arrived at the hotel about the midnight so we stayed only about 7 hours in the hotel. I can't say anything bad about it but there was also nothing very positive. I liked the breakfast, which was adequate.

If you need a place to sleep and CANNOT drive any further then perhaps this is the better of the TWO places available but still it was pretty nasty

As the previous reviewer stated, they care more getting you in the door. This place is a perfect example of one that should be leveled and rebuilt. This was actually our second time staying here. Our family lives in town and pickings are slim. Trying the new Walden house next. Anyway, both times, beds were dirty, called for new sheets... More

I was on a weekend roadtrip in Eastern WA with a friend of mine. My friend takes issues with business chains or anything mass produced (for a myriad of reasons too many to list here) and he likes staying at motels where each room has its own entrance to the outside. He also smokes so that makes it easier for... More
