We booked for 27 nights in March this year and payed some 1450 dollars (taxes included) for a double room (me and my academic fellow). As our stay was working trip paid by university we could not afford - and we would certainly have not been provided with enough money for BestWestern or even Hilton. We booked a nonsmoking room and discovered--in the middle of the night--that cigarette smoke came into our room through the ventilation system from nearby rooms. Since all the rooms in our vicinity were also "nonsmoking," we complained to the management.
