This place has potential, that from past interviews, was once lived up to (It's gone through several owners in only a few years). But it needs to decide if it's a quaint B&B or a gourmet restaurant. Rooms are small, but cute, however there was no place to set our suitcase. Shared bathrooms I can deal with, but they were... more

We stayed 2 nights in #10, which was a nice enough room, but no private bath was kind of strange though. Room was clean, bathrooms not so much. Ate both nights in the dining room, 1 night we had a young waitress who had been working there for a couple of years, she was great to talk to and gave... more

You can't miss the Lyle Hotel - enter Lyle and you'll find it immediately. It's definitely off the beaten path, and the scenery in the area is quite pretty. We stayed for one evening, had dinner, and left the next day to catch the Mt. Hood Railroad (VERY worth doing and only about 20 minutes drive from the hotel!) Dinner... more

Visited the Columbia Gorge early this April and stayed overnight at the Lyle Hotel in Lyle Wa.. In the old days this was a railroad hotel. The railroad is now primarily used for freights- lots of them, in fact. The tracks are very convenient to the hotel. Earplugs are available. Continental breakfast is amply provided, the coffee superb. Rooms are... more

We found the absolute best dining in the Columbia River Gorge area at the Lyle Hotel. The chef, Chris, trained in the finest restaurants in Seattle and Las Vegas before he and his wife, Solea, purchased the Lyle. When we stayed there in early April, they were still in the midst of a major upgrade of the hotel and restaurant.... more

The new owners (less than one year as of this writing) have spiffed up the lobby and bar considerably. Major improvement over the past. Its cheerful and warm, not the rundown look of the previous regime. The new menu in the restaurant is a big improvement - lots of great choices and reasonable prices, and the wine list is just... more

Rooms are okay, shared baths are okay - like Europe 35 years ago on $10 dollars a day! The winemaker dinner was extremely disappointing. It was not worth $65.00 by a long shot. Food was not top quality - originality was there, but neither the food or the wine was worth the price. Our group of 10 all agreed that... more

the owners were rude and unhelpful...10 of us were there for a workshop and we all felt the same...the place was unkempt; the shared bathrooms were dirty and were supplied with old used soaps etc...i understand there are new owners; hopefully things will improve; the area is awesome. more

This is is a large converted home. The building upkeep appears to be minimal, the beds are old and the "shared bathrooms" are just a cut above what you would expect in, well, a well-traveled boarding house. The beds were uniformly of very poor quality, as were the linens, dressers, lighting and insect control (cockroaches). A train runs nearby and... more

This hotel was incredible, the restaurant and lounge were amazingly good and the rooms were cozy, quaint and the "shared" bathrooms were terrific - not inconvenient at all! The surrounding area has a ton to do indoors and out and this hotel makes a terrific "home away from home' for all your exploring. This is a terrific experience - very... more
