We found the absolute best dining in the Columbia River Gorge area at the Lyle Hotel. Rooms are okay, shared baths are okay - like Europe 35 years ago on $10 dollars a day! The winemaker dinner was extremely disappointing. It was not worth $65.00 by a long shot. the owners were rude and unhelpful...10 of us were there for a workshop and we all felt the same...the place was unkempt; the shared bathrooms were dirty and were supplied with old used soaps etc...i understand there are new owners; hopefully things will improve; the area is awesome. more

This is is a large converted home. The building upkeep appears to be minimal, the beds are old and the "shared bathrooms" are just a cut above what you would expect in, well, a well-traveled boarding house.
