Other than the public spaces, which are all quite nice, much of the Willows Inn is old, odd and overpriced. The place, of course, capitalizes on the fact that guests get preferential reservations at the restaurant, which is exceptional and I review elsewhere. We have stayed at the Inn twice in the high end Haven and the "budget" Honeysuckle, neither... More

Wandernotlost1 wrote the review for me. We had a very similar experience with the exception that for us, the concierge was very friendly and helpful. Biking was not enjoyable due to the condition of the bikes- could hardly ride them. Bugs in the room due to lack of window screens. The meal was beautiful and well executed but we left... More

We felt this room was overpriced for what one gets in return. It seemed to us that they have not decided that they wish to be in the hotel business or just an adjunct to their chef's talents. The room itself was attractive and nicely presented. Recognising this is an island and therefore has less ability to supply some services... More

The best meal in my life and I know food. Chef Blaine and his team are superb! Donuts with black cod; halibut skin with shellfish; calmari - simply outstanding!!!! See pictures below. It was my 35th birthday. It is unbelievable we have this quality of food and service just few hours from Seattle. Now lodging - we were in Matia... More

The meal in the Willows Inn was special - all locally sourced, beautifully presented little morsels of clean and fresh flavours. There was no red meat or poultry so you have to be a lover of seafood to get the full benefit. But even after 15 courses, none of us were super-full. At USD 175 per person (plus tip, not... More

Staying at Willows Inn and combining it with an evening at the restaurant makes for a terrific experience. Four stars since the rooms are a bit small and somewhat worn. Our room was above the restaurant, which does generate a fair amount of noise. The setting and general ambiance are fantastic, though.

I have been here three times over the past four summers both for lunch and dinner. First you should know that a ferry ride with your car is required and don't miss the last ferry. Make reservations in advance. Lunch should be included as a day exploring the island. Sitting outside in good weather for lunch is suggested. Dinner is... More

Lovely and delicious. Fresh, flaky, warm, biscuits and house made dandelion jelly set the scene. Hot porridge, soft boiled egg, Washington cheese, meat from Seattle's famous Salumi, island cured lox, fresh carrot juice, finish with delicate pine tree shortbread cookies. Local Bellingham coffee from Tony's. Outstanding quality. Best view on the island. Just go. No reservation needed, but expect crowds on Saturday and... More

The entire experience is something that I will remember for the rest of my life. We stayed in the cottage overlooking the property. The dinner was unlike anything else I have ever experienced. Well worth every penny.

This property is hard to rate as it is known both for its superb restaurant and for the accommodation. Chef Blaine Wetzel has just been shortlisted for a James Beard Award for his excellent restaurant, foraging food, small exquisite servings.... in effect based on Noma in Copenhagen where he did train. Anothony Bourdin profiled Noma in one of his recent... More
