When traveling was staying at hotels with owners on the premises and seeing America was done in what is now considered a classic car, this is where you would have stayed. The Rainbow is classic and clean, comfortable beds, the major update would be the flat screen tvs. If you have kids traveling with you they offer units with an... More

We like funky, local places. Having said that, we like to pay for what we get. This place was clean and quiet, but for almost $90 we got no breakfast, not even a coffee pot in the room, no wifi, a meager cable TV selection (no sports center), old, tired mattress and furnishings. Old skool roadside rest at modern day... More

Called at midnight Thursday to make sure they were open. No worries. The guy who greeted me half an hour later was the son of the original owners-managers. Richard Gere did a film here in the late 60s. $60 got me a room, bed, 3/4 bath and what appears to be a TV. Heat and water work and there is... More

We like hidden gems; older, a little past prime, but with tons of character. This one didn't quite hit the mark. It was clean and relatively quiet, but no real redeeming qualities. Room freshener was overpowering, room was stuffy (air conditioner was in a back bedroom), pillows were as hard as rocks. Wouldn't try this one again.

The Rainbow is a blast from the past with its wood paneling interior and dinosaur television. But don't let that detour you, it's clean and serviceable, close enough to I-90 to give you easy access but far enough away so you are not hearing the traffic all night. There was construction work on the pass so I decided to spend... More

Ok the area has chain hotels and motels but this little place was a fun stay. It is super clean, dated doesnt mean dirty. Had some classic elements of days past like a green padded head board, wicker light fixtures, and midcentury furniture. Great price & clean rooms.

The chain motels right off I-90 were $30 - $40 more a night, so we decided to take a chance on this place. It's an older roadside motel from the days before the Interstate, clean and reasonably well-maintained. Maybe it was TOO clean--there was a powerful cleaning-product smell in the room that never dissipated. The room was small but adequate.... More

I was on another weekend road trip with a friend who made the reservations. He has a thing against lodging chains-I suspect because most of them have rooms that open to a central hallway which prevents him from going outside to smoke easily. The office was closed when we arrived so my friend walked into the restaurant to find out... More
