Definitely a unique place to stay. We stayed in a red caboose. Comfortable, clean. Convenient to Mount Rainier. The bathroom is a little cramped, but it is a train car after all. The shower stall could have used a caddy for soap, razer, etc. There is not really much flat surface space for bags, suitcases. Breakfast in the restaurant is... More

First of all if you are heading to Mt.Rainer, have some where to stay booked in advance. Secondly, if you are looking for unusual accommodations, this is it. We stayed one night in the yellow caboose. Very basic. Double bed which was too small for a 6'3" person. No TV, no wiFi. Expensive for what you get unless what you... More

finding where to check in is confusing, you check in at the smoky cramped bar in the dining caboose-even though it says restaurant parking only. The hotel room (train car) was hot and stuffy and windows didn't open. The furnishings are from the 70's. I asked for a fan and they said they had none. Charming it was not--just keep... More

Staying in a caboose had never been on my bucket list but we thought it might be fun. We had to register at the bar. The bartender said he was new on the job. He had to interrupt our registering three times to go get help. One time was when I refused to give him my drivers license number. That... More

This trip was as much about my train loving 4 year old grandson as having a high quality hotel experience, still the Caboose we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The one complaint I might have is that the bathroom was somewhat smallish but then again it is a real caboose. Over all I would rate this a fun place to stay.... More

We like to stay in unique places for the experience. Caboose lodging concept is unique. Booked 2 nights for birthday. Upon arrival, as directed, went to "lounge" car to check in. First impression of "lounge car" is run down, dirty and old carpet, old seating & tables. No real decor. One person in bar. Bartender not in bar. Wandered around... More

Staying with my son's who were very excited about the caboose. When we registered we were told that breakfast was no longer included. After a few minutes in the room the toilet would not work. They came and rigged it with a rubber band. Later that night it overflowed so I had to shut the water off. 8:30pm and no... More

We booked a night here on a romantic weekend, my wife and I try to get away every few months. We've stayed in some very different places so don't expect perfection in themed places, but I think we would have enjoyed a hotel room more. The cars are made-over and kind of a hodge-podge. Not dirty but not really clean,... More

Our stay at the Hobo Inn was a really enjoyable one. The "inn" is comprised of eight separate train cabooses that have been refitted to make separate lodging units. Each unit (caboose) is different, but all have full bathrooms, coffee makers, and so on. Just what actually works in each unit is a crap shoot. Our unit was missing an... More
