The first rule in being a gracious host is to overcome personal angst and observe the situation. The innkeeper, Mike failed in greeting us after a long day and despite my restraints went on and on with his smart-mouth remarks towards me and my wife which were totally unnecessary. We decided not stay as I value my money and if... more

Management response from
Mike Barwick, Manager/Innkeeper

Dear travelers: We read this review with much dismay as we were unaware of any guest who had visited the Inn and left displeased with us or with the accommodations provided. When concerns are expressed, we always do everything that we can to meet guests’ needs and rectify any potential problems. We certainly regret that we were unable to meet...

Really, my husband and I could go on and on about our stay at the Mountain Rose... but we'll keep this practical, yet enticing. First, the innkeepers, Dora Jane and Mike, are tremendous managers and hosts!! They went above and beyond to make us feel right at home but completely special. We found ourselves drawn to them personally during our... more

This was our second stay at the Mountain Rose - the property has improved, although it was great the first time, too. On this trip another couple of old friends was there with us and they loved it, too. The property is sooooo quiet and relaxing that one has trouble getting to the next thing to praise, but probably the... more

The Mountain Rose Inn is a slice of heaven on earth! My husband and I took a one week driving vacation that started on the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker 0. We enjoyed driving the Parkway and were amazed at the views, wildlife, and history that is to be seen. We arrived at the Inn late on Saturday and... more

Great place tucked way back in the mountains near the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is an older home beautifully decorated. Two charming owners that always seem to be there when you need something, but disappear just as quickly. Plenty of snacks in the afternoon and the breakfasts are outstanding. If you are into the wine tasting - there are 2... more

The Mountain Rose Inn is a gem. Located close to the Blue Ridge Parkway it has an idyllic country setting in the woods with well tended grounds leading down to the creek. This was our first B&B experience and boy did it come up trumps ! Our room (Daisy's Delight) was delightful and the bed oh so comfortable. The house... more

Went to the area for a wedding. After reviewing other postings on TA, we decided to stay at the MRI. Rooms were very warm and inviting. Everything you needed was in the room. Breakfast- OH MY! Dora Jane and Mike really know how to cook. I really needed a break from my busy life- and they provided me with exactly... more

If you are looking for a quiet place, away from everything and you don't mind winding roads, this is a great place to stay. The rooms were decorated beautifully and had private, clean bathrooms. The food was very good. We loved the adirondak chairs next to the creek and the resident dog and cat were a homey touch. Chateau Morrisette... more

Mountain Rose Inn is an absolutely beautiful house set on a scenic stream-Disney couldn't have drawn a more picturesque site! The innkeepers, Mike and Dora, were very attentive and helpful. Breakfast is generally a granola bar and a diet coke in the car for me but breakfast at the Mountain Rose is truly an event!!! With a roaring fire in... more

What a wonderful place to stay! The property is absolutely breathtaking and the innkeepers make you feel right at home. The four-course breakfasts that are served are out of this world. There are extensive hiking trails and a beautiful creek directly in front of the house (which the innkeepers dog loves to play in). The rooms are warmly decorated, each... more
