I had such a great weekend here. I wanted a peaceful, relaxing place where I could sit outside and write, and I got that and much more. A friend had recommended this place, and I'm glad she did -- the prices were very reasonable, and the entire stay was just wonderful. Ed was fantastic -- giving me my space, but... More

What a lovely time we had enjoying our long weekend stay at the Inn. The weather was perfect for us to enjoy the lobby fire as well as one in our room each night. Ed and Ellen treated us to a great breakfast each morning and there was plenty to snack on throughout the day too. We were a large... More

Ed and Ellen are wonderful hosts. He is a joy to talk to and learn about the area. Rustic inn with all your convienences , rooms with fireplaces , porches and a view of the Shenandoah river. Convenient to many great Virginia wineries. North Mountain Vineyard is a must!

The Inn at Narrow Passage is in a great location - allowing easy exploring of the beautiful surrounding areas and visiting some of the best wineries in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. This is a rustic inn, with the comfort of modern day convenience. Ed and Ellen were great hosts and our room was very comfortable, complete with fire each evening right... More

Sadly the weather was against us but Ed and Ellen made us feel right at home. Best sleep we've had on this trip and the breakfast was top notch. Attractive, authentic property. Enjoyed the walk down to the river, across the swaying bridge and watching the birds. Recommended.

We found the Inn at Narrow Passage by accident. Last minute we wanted to get away for Veteran's Day. We were able to stay one one of the rooms in the original structure complete with log walls. The room was comfortable, the breakfast good but with outstanding baked goods made in the kitchen. Ed and Ellen Markel live on the... More

Ed and Ellen Markel have created a haven for people seeking to enjoy the surrounding Shenandoah Valley. Ed is the frontman: friendly and full of stories. Ellen puts a bountiful breakfast on the table. Rooms are cozy. I love the rustic inn with its fireplace and 18th-century decor. There's nothing pretentious here, just friendliness in a great location. Kelly Ruckelshaus

If you are a Civil War buff or a lover of early American history generally, as I am, you will love the Inn at Narrow Passage. The oldest part of the Inn was built in 1740 with an addition in 1780 I believe. There is a new section as well which keeps the colonial motif, but the rooms are a... More

On our first stay at the Inn we found a delightful location, rich with history, and innkeepers who made you wish you could stay longer. Our room was very comfy, breakfast was very special, and the overall experience one of the best B & B experiences we've ever had. I'm already thinking of what adventures we can fit in on... More
