I just returned from a three night stay at the George Washington Hotel in Winchester, Virginia. I was originlly booked at the Hampton Inn but was dissatisfied with it and checked out. Luckily, I saw a sign for a Wyndham Hotel in the old town porton of the city and went over for a look. The George Washington Hotel is... More

We were very satisfied with this hotel. The room was clean, the furnishings were to a high standard. For an historic hotel, the rooms were spacious. Room service breakfast was not exceptional but good enough -- just don't get the continental breakfast with pastries. The front desk was slightly forgetful but very pleasant and charming and we soon got everything... More

The George Washington is a nicely updated historic hotel which we chose to be near the downtown walking mall. Well forget that! The recession has decimated the mall and it takes less than half an hour to stroll and walk it. If you want a romantic hotel, the GW is the ticket, however. Rooms were bright and nicely appointed. If... More

WONDERFUL hotel. I will never stay in Winchester at any other location. Because I travel a lot, I appreciate getting a feel for the place prior to arrival. The highlights included: QUIET room (we never heard another person making noise from inside of our room), wonderful marble bathroom with good hot water, good water pressure, double vanity, and lots of... We stayed in 525 and 517, which are connected by an interior door. They are a king and 2 queen respectively. We got a refrigerator in one room by asking, at no charge. There is no microwave. There is a nice flat screen TV in each room. The bathrooms are huge and well stocked. The cleaning people are thorough. The... More

I'd give this hotel 6 stars if I could, and for several reasons. I'm an avid traveler and I know how important reviews are, so I'll be as specific as I can. We stayed here for TWO WEEKS for a conference, so the cleanliness, comfort, and service of the hotel was highly important. Room: The room was very nice and... More

Spent 2 nights & enjoyed our stay. Rooms were immaculate & very tasteful. Good value for the money. However, Wyndham (which owns this hotel) is the pits. They advertise special rates on their website, but you can't get them. FALSE ADVERTISING. I first called the George Washington & was told discounts must come from Wyndham. No suites or upgrades were... More

Needing a night away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life, my husband and I decided to book a room in Winchester. After reading all the reviews we decided that GW Inn would surely meet our standards. Little did we know that they would not only meet our standards but exceed our standards. From the courteous customer service,... More

We travelled the weekend of Thanksgiving with our four-year-old daughter. The first thing I think of is the service. We were promptly greeted by a hotel bell hop who helped us with our luggage and parking. The front desk attendants were extremely helpful in providing us information on where the main attractions were, etc. Check-in was quick and painless. The... More
