We have stayed at dozens, maybe hundreds of B&Bs and small hotels in North America and Europe, covering decades. The Speckled Trout would have to rank as our best experience. Kay was the perfect hostess, and all the other five-star reviews are true. The house is beautiful inside and out, in a quiet neighborhood of older homes with huge front... More

Excellent B&B! The entire place is decorated wonderfully and the gardens in the back are beautiful. We were in the area to pick up a custom made farmhouse table and, although we only stayed one night, we would highly recommend this B&B. As others have said, we were treated as though we were long lost friends or family. Thank you... More

What words can be used to truly reflect the excellence of this establishment?! From the moment that Kay came across her front lawn to greet us to the time we left admiring her lovely garden we were treated like long lost friends. The house is beautiful and the food superb. What is even more surprising is that Kay was able... More

What a gem in bed and breakfasts! Located in a little beautiful neighborhood, sits a lovely brick home turned into a bed and breakfast. All rooms are artfully decorated. I especially loved the man cave reflecting the genius of an avid fly fisherman. Of course, this being the theme of the place it certainly measured up to that. The home... More

After years and years of staying in B&B's all over the world, we have found the best of the best at the Speckled Trout! The inn was more than beautiful, it was decorated with such attention to detail that I found myself in awe, room after room. All of the bedrooms are absolutely beautiful and luxurious. We stayed in the... More

My husband and I have stayed in many B & B's throughout the US and overseas and give The Speckled Trout the highest rating possible, as it perfect in every way. Kay obviously has found her calling and could not have been more accommodating and gracious. She had wonderful suggestions of things to do and see in the area and... More

Kay was our hostess and I must say she was what all hostesses should aspire to be. This is a meticulous, tasteful home filled with interesting family histories and great attention to the smallest detail. Kay served us a delicious breakfast that included sautéed nectarines and walnuts plus perfectly poached eggs with asparagus and hollandaise. Her genuine love of hosting... More

As other reviewers have noted, The Speckled Trout is made special by its gracious hosts, Jim and Kay. The home is beautifully decorated, clean and thoughtfully appointed with everything a guest could need. The location, while residential, is close to many scenic and popular spots (Blue Ridge Parkway, wineries,Charlottesville). That said, one of the nicest things about this B&B are its... More

My wife and I love the Charlottesville area, so for our first anniversary we were looking for a nice B&B near there to stay for the weekend. Pulled in by the glowing reviews of The Speckled Trout, we decided to stay there, and it lives up to every word. We were greeted by Kay, whose husband Jim was out of... More

We stayed here one night as a convenient stop whilst travelling on the I81 to Philadelphia. The accommodation is Five Star, immaculate, clean and comfortable in a quiet setting. The food was excellent and Jim and Kay do everything they can to make you feel welcome including giving us very good advice about places to visit. The house is tastefully and... More
