Our family didn't camp here, but we did decide to drive through and see the park. First, the front gate attendant was very rude to us when we first drove in. We really didn't know if we wanted to just drive through at first or stay and enjoy the beach. This attendant seemed very annoyed at our asking questions to... More

We were looking for alternative after our original plans were scuttled by Hurricane Arthur. This place was a very pleasant surprise. Very nice park, inexpensive, spacious secluded sites, clean bath houses. A short walk over the dunes on walkways to the beach. We will definitely return to this little treasure for a longer stay.

Fees included camp site, parking and use of the boat dock which we thought was good bargain. The bathrooms were nice. However, there isn't much hot water for showers after dinner. It was a long walk to the beach from our tent site. We felt very safe - access was regulated and there were regular patrols by the rangers.

We stayed in one of the state park cabins, which are nestled in the woods. It is so beautiful and peaceful, with the convieniance of a hotel. The only negative thing is the beds, one room has a twin bed, comfortable but very small. The other room has 2 single, very uncomfortable beds. The cabins appears very clean, but a... More

We stayed here with our 2 children the weekend of June 14-16. We are a family who loves camping, so let me start with that. If you are looking for a hotel, obviously, this isn't the place you're looking for. Lol. So, we arrived and asked if we could pick our own lot, the attendant told us that was fine,... More

We loved this state park. We found a dune side spot with relative privacy and great views. Quiet enough to take our cats on walks. Showers clean, hot & private. Staff very helpful with planning outings. Wonderful 11mile bike trail. Only downside is lack of sewer on site. We'll be back!

Great location adjacent to the inlet of Chesapeake Bay. The RV sites are well separated ( more so than commercial campgrounds). Easy access to the beach via walkways. Most sites are set up to be assigned on arrival. Water and electric only, no sewer hook-ups.

Our family members have been going to this very nice state park on the bay, very near the ocean, for several years. Some of us rent cabins; others stay in the campground, which now has water and electricity in most RV sites. There are walkways across the dunes to the water, where you can swim, fish or crab. Orderly pets... More

Sometimes when camping a certain park just hits the spot and this one did. We were in Va Beach after summer season. Weather was perfect and crowds were gone. The State Park has amazing sand dune sites with plenty of privacy from the next site. Campfires allowed. Beach access. Clean hot showers. Water and electric hook ups and dump station.... More
