Loved our anniversary weekend away here! First class breakfast and charm! You will be so spoiled. Quaint quiet relaxing town. Beautiful gardens to sit and enjoy. Great for photographers and nature lovers. Can't wait to go back, didn't want to leave.

Ric and Jeremy are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them and their home is beautiful and comfortable. Breakfasts are better than any we have experienced anywhere. They are imaginative in their menus which consist of locally sourced fresh produce and are absolutely delicious. A bonus is their garden which makes for a super spot to sit... More

A terrific old inn, lovingly kept by the attentive owners, Jeremy and Rick, who treat their guests very graciously. Spacious house, great breakfasts, tasteful rooms and calming garden. Even though it's on the Middle Peninsula, it's perfect for exploring the Northern Neck, which is right across the bridge.

Jeremy and Ric sure know the secret to being the perfect hosts! They are running a first class Bed & Breakfast Inn. We were in town for Historic Garden Week and decided to travel from Virginia Beach a day earlier and get a fresh start in the morning for the tour. We stayed in room 207, the downstairs suite complete... More

A hearty welcome and cheerful greeting as we just pulled into the parking lot, a charming guided tour of the old Inn full of 'family treasures' ( the little things that make the Inn more a home than a B&B), introductions all around, both innkeepers (Jeremy and Rick) of sparkling disposition each being his own personality. Our room was sparkling... More

We stayed here as a short getaway while grandparents watched out little one. Could not have asked for a better place for a relaxing getaway weekend. The house is gorgeous, and updated with enough modern amenities (central heat & air with thermostats in each room, cable TV, fast wifi, nice shower with plenty of hot water) to make the stay... Essex Innkeepers, Jeremy and Ric, are most gracious and welcoming. The inn is a perfect distance for a one night special get away from Richmond. The drive down 360 east is a piece of cake. The Town of Tappahannock is quaint with views of the water and nearby restaurants. We enjoyed the Java Jacks Coffee and House and Bistro for... More

Darn that Ric and Jeremy!!! After spending only a day of being properly spoiled with my every whim anticipated and need met I became utterly convinced that this was the life I was entitled to lead. Of COURSE I was born to be a lady of leisure and the most important person in the room! This is how Ric and... More

Beautiful place with a gourmet breakfast! Jeremy and Rick are perfect hosts. They know all the good places to eat and visit! There's a gas fireplace in every room. Wine, beer, coffee and tea available all the time.

This was our second visit to the inn. Jeremy and Ric made us feel at home right away. I felt like I was staying with friends. The rooms are very comfortable and historic. We counted down the hours till breakfast because it was just that amazing. We loved staying here and will definitely be back.
