My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend away and had a wonderful time. The inn is certainly located off of the beaten path (need to drive down some winding country roads) but that is part of the charm. You can stroll the grounds of Robert E Lee's birthplace or take a walk to the nearby beach. The breakfast... More

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere so if you are the type of person who is looking for action this is not for you. However, it is one of the most beautiful properties. It was Robert E. Lee's birthplace and it has hiking trails, beach, the structure are nearly all original to the property. They have farm animals... More

My wife and I planned to visit Stratford Hall for Robert E Lee's birthday. We had a reservation to stay at The Inn at Stratford Hall the night before our visit. After an initial check-in glitch (which management quickly made up for) we had a great visit. The guest room was simple but comfortable and the food was absolutely delicious!... More

I think "Inn" is a bit of misnomer for this property. It is more of a series of guest houses and cabins. We stayed in the Astor guest house. It had six guest rooms, a common living room, a dining room, and a kitchen. The only tv was in the common room. It also had free wifi, but the signal... More

I had purchased a living social voucher for 2 nights at the Inn at Stratford Hall for our anniversary in August. In July I broke my humorous bone and we were unable to go then. Stratford Hall, very kindly ,allowed us to postpone our trip to September and honored the voucher even though the time had expired on it. Randy... More

My wife and I decided to rent a cabin for the yearly wine and oyster festival. We found the Inn to be a very pleasant experience over all. The grounds were beautiful, the festival was great, the cabins were very rustic and better then I had hoped. The only complaint was the food at the restaurant. It has a lot... More

Dear Bobby, Thank you so much for coming to visit, and making the time to write a review. I am so glad you enjoyed the cabins and the festival. We do not usually rent out the cabins, so your timing was excellent. I am concerned about your review of the food. We have been receiving numerous positive reviews, and we... More

Our family spent a wonderful weekend in late July at Stratford Hall – birthplace of Robert E. Lee. I wanted to touch on some of the highlights from our trip: First of all, it’s convenient and an easy and beautiful drive, approximately 2.5 hours, from Washington, DC. Second, the tour of the Great House was amazing. It was built in... More

Enjoyed our June visit to the guest house at the Inn at Stratford Hall.. Very quiet and relaxing. The common area had large comfortable seating areas where you could relax and enjoy a fresh brewed cup of coffee made in the adjacent well appointed kitchen. Rooms were modern and very tastefully decorated. The grounds were magnificent for just strolling or... More

We stayed in the Cheek House for a Board retreat. Stratford Hall provided the perfect getaway. The décor is lovely--soft greens and beiges that provide a restful atmosphere. The common rooms and large deck provided a great place to meet and socialize with other members of our party. Randy and his staff could not have been more accommodating to our... More

We've had two perfect experiences staying at Stratford. Astor House has a cabin-y feel with lovely, rustic front and back porches, but the rooms are modern and pristine. The best part is by far the access you have to the grounds -- which are green and gorgeous, tons of great places to walk to - we woke up and strolled... More

Jodi, Thank you for your kind words. We strive to present this wonderful location in a manner that will make folks want to return with friends, family, and/or co-workers. The challenge is getting the word out so more people will come experience what you did. Your comments will help us promote the area and what it has to offer. We... More
