Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Sugar Tree Inn is a perfect spot for a truly relaxing get-away. We arrived when the surrounding forest was exploding in autumnal colors and the air was turning crisp. There is simply no bad view! We would suggest arriving before dark as the access road is a twisting, turning affair, which could be... More

The directions to the place were spot on. We were greeted quickly by the friendly owner Becky on arrival. After a brief tour of the main lodge we arrived at the St. Mary's cabin. It was a clean and cozy place to stay two nights. Dinner was tasty and served on time with warm service. Beautiful Fall mountain scenery surrounds... More

This is a unique property, a forest lodge with the personal character of a bed-and-breakfast. The location is beautiful, isolated, yet very convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our room, in one of the outlying buildings, was very pleasant and comfortable; a lot of thought and care went into its furnishing. The main building has a marvelous "great hall" that... More

At times we all wish we could take a time out from our hectic pace. We have been to Sugar Tree Inn five times now and always find this a time of refreshment and enjoyment. We love the view from the Inn's front porch. There is a great porch swing for two and rocking chairs for taking in the scenery.... More

My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend at this beautiful inn very near the Blue Ridge Parkway to celebrate my birthday. We had been here once before and just loved everything about this place! We decided to stay in the Tye River Room which is located in the main inn and was just perfect. The room was large with... More

My wife and I were at the Sugar Tree Inn a little over a week ago - coinciding with our 46th wedding anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We ate dinner at the inn both nights we were there, which was a great idea. Breakfasts were thoroughly enjoyable and you were welcome to interact, or not, with the other guests as... More

This bed and breakfast was definitely adequate, and the evening meal (an extra purchase, but a good idea, considering the place's isolation) was quite good. The room and the breakfast were OK , and the hosts were civil but not particularly welcoming. We felt there was a religious leaning to the place. There were lots of warnings about bugs in... More

Our return to the Sugar Tree Inn was the perfect celebration for our 16th anniversary. Jeff and Becky are the perfect hosts and provide the perfect atmosphere for a romantic getaway. We arrived to find a dozen roses in our room and chocolate covered strawberries. What a nice surprise. After checking with them for dinner suggestions in nearby Lexington we... More

My husband (age 40) and I (age 38) booked the Labor Day Weekend Package, 2014 to celebrate a wedding anniversary. From DC the drive is right at 3 hours, which is nice and easy down 66 to 81 for most of the way. The last 30 minutes is another story. They are deep into the mountain range, with the expected... We're not quite sure how to respond to someone who embellishes details into untruthful statements in order to vent. Somehow, she equates visiting us to an awkward trip to a distant relative's house. Although we do try to make our guests feel at home, we also are very careful to be non-intrusive. We don't sit around the lobby trying to... More
