Stayed there a week while touring Shenandoah Valley. Motel room was clean, spacious and affordable. All staff was friendly and helpful. Good TV, nice pool, fridge & microwave at no extra charge, free wireless, convenient location. Loved it. more

In reading some of the other rooms I was quite surpirsed because what do you expect for 55 a night! Wanted a room close to Blue Ridge Parkway. As earlier reviewers noted, the place is older, but clean and within walking distance of historic and restaurants. Had a nice outdoor pool. Helpful desk clerk suggested we dine at the Byers Street Bistro at end of street and it was great advice. more

My family and I went to Staunton, VA to see the Woodrow Wilson Museum and take in a play at the BlackFriars Playhouse. The attractions were great, but the hotel was not! After traveling through Skyline National Park we checked into the Howard Johnsons Express in Staunton. The front desk clerk was very friendly. The hotel is fairly old and has seen better days. Think squeaky mattresses, cracked pink 1960's tiles in the bathroom, toilet that runs occasionally, etc. The most redeeming quality is the location. I would have stayed elsewhere but this hotel is convenient to downtown and you can walk to the restaurants and bars and have a few drinks without worrying... more
