So many B&Bs have mediocre food, dusty, geegaw-filled rooms, not-so-comfy beds and innkeepers who seem like they'd rather not be there. This is not one of those places. The William Cox in walks a very delicate and lovely line between luxurious (firm mattresses, soft pillows, spotlessly clean) and rustic (mountain views, singing birds, wildflowers). It's a peaceful, subtly decorated place... more

If you are planning a visit to nearby Shenandoah National Park, or Charlottesville, I would highly recommend a stay at the William Cox Inn. I think it is being kept a secret by young professionals who want to escape from Washington for some quiet relaxation and a rural beauty spot. My family, on holiday from England, arrived to a warm... more

Stayed two nights, along with parents and in-laws during UVA graduation weekend. First, the rooms are all beautiful -- we used three of them, including the cabin down the hill. Views are spectacular to the Blue Ridge mountains in the west. Owners do a great job walking the fine line between being extremely solicitous of the guests' comfort without being... more

A perfect mix of old and new, the William Cox Inn is highly recommended for couples seeking a refreshing and simple weekend away from home. My girlfriend took me here for my birthday recently, and beyond some initial trouble we had finding the place, the weekend was a cool mix of quality food, good sleeping, and an overall relaxing atmosphere... more

I had a great relaxing time at the William-Cox Inn. The place was nice and quiet, and Tom and Janet were such great hosts. We stayed in the historic part of the inn, and the rooms were fabulous. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to relax and get away. more

Located a little ways off the beaten path, this tranquil abode provides the perfect setting for a rejuvenating getaway, but still close to all the local attractions (vineyards, Shenandoah National Park, Charlottesville, etc). Hosts Janet and Tom leave guests want for nothing, striking the perfect balance between country charm and modern creature comforts. Among the first indulgences upon arrival were... more

The William Cox Inn is convenient to Charlottesville (about 18 miles) and is 4 or 5 miles from the Blue Ridge School. The hosts are gracious and attentive, and the breakfast is unbelievable (huge and delicious)--fresh fruit, granola & yogurt, scrambled eggs with goat cheese & baby spinach, blueberry pancakes (another time there were oat pancakes), the lightest, fluffiest biscuits... more

This is one of the best bed and breakfasts my husband and I have ever stayed in--and we have stayed in many. Everything was top-notch, from the delicious breakfast by the fire to the luxurious linens on our four-poster bed to the handmade soaps to the well-stocked library to the stunning back porch with gorgeous views. And our hosts, Tom... more

The hospitality is unparalleled. The two owners and operators go out of their way to make your stay perfect and relaxing. From afternoon wine tastings to evening cognac and truffles, the thoughtfulness and hospitality go a long way and make you feel right at home. Each morning, you are greeted with amazing breakfasts made from all organic ingredients. The beautiful... more
