My wife and I were married in nearby Luray Caverns and we made arrangements to stay at the Hopkins Ordinary during the big weekend. Kevin and Sherri (the innkeepers) were very accommodating and worked closely with us to make sure everything was right. We had them make dinner for the wedding party after the ceremony — we can highly recommend... more

My wife and I celebrated our 9th anniversary with a trip to Hopkins Ordinary. As first the name threw us, but it ended up being anything but ordinary. The hosts are foodies like us, and they had just started harvesting swiss chard fromt their garden. Cool. Oh, and don't forget the wine they so kindly provided us on our arrival... more

We had a wonderful time at Hopkins Ordinary. We checked in after a day of hiking Old Rag and were greeted by the wonderful hosts with a glass of wine. The Ordinary is on the Main Street of the town, but the town is so tiny there really is no noise or commotion. After hanging out on their peaceful front... more

We were met by the owners with a handshake and a Complete list of all the dos and don'ts. No eating in the rooms, no coolers in the rooms, two beers per guest and breakfast served promptly at 8:30, must be seated by 9:00---how accomadating!! We felt as though we were an imposition instead of guests. We left early and... more

We could not have been happier with the Hopkins Ordinary. First, the decor was very nice - there were no elements of cheesy kitsch (not a teddy bear or doll to be found). Kevin and Sherry, the proprietors, did an excellent job restoring an old country inn tastefully, maintaining the original heart pine floors, uncovering hidden fireplaces and furnishing the... more

We have just returned from a two-night stay at Hopkins Ordinary over the Thanksgiving weekend. What a wonderful find! The rooms were lovely - immaculate and very comfortable. One of the nicest things was the delightful porch that runs along the entire front and side of the inn on both floors. We sat out there both mornings and enjoyed the... more

We spent Thanksgiving weekend at Hopkins Ordinary and loved everything about this bed and breakfast! The owners were wonderful hosts--very friendly and helpful in suggesting hikes nearby and other activities. The rooms were lovely, retaining the nineteenth century charm of the old building, while possessing all of the modern amenities. Our room had a balcony and we enjoyed taking in... more

A friend and I had a wonderful stay at Hopkins Ordinary in late October. The owners were very hospitable, welcoming us with cookies and wine even though we arrived very late! They knew the area extremely well, made dinner reservations for us, and provided excellent recommendations for local wine, food, and activities. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and meticulously maintained.... more

While the room at Hopkins Ordinary was beautiful and clean, the welcome was lacking. When you stay at a bed and breakfast, you expect courteous service and a warm welcome, however, my friends and I received neither. One of the owners seemed inconvenienced by our stay and was rude and snappy when we asked for their assistance in booking reservations.... more

Hopkins Ordinary has pretty rooms and a convenient location..but that's about it. The owners, Sherri and Kevin, are not helpful and somewhat rude. The breakfast is lacking and for the amount of money you spend to stay there its ridiculous that you leave hungry after. They advertise that they are willing to help with reservations however they do act like... more
