When I made my reservations (7 rooms for 20 people) I was a little stressed making them sight unseen. I didn't want to be responsible for the disappointment of all of those people! Every hotel I'd tried, up to this point, was booked so I took the plunge. Upon arriving, it's obvious the hotel is dated, but, to me, charming.... More

My friend and I stayed at the Colony House Motor Lodge while we were attending a conference in Roanoke. The room, the beds and the hallway had a musty smell. The room had definitely not been cleaned. The wall of the shower had a clump of black hair stuck to it. The a/c heating unit had enormous amounts of dust... More

I really enjoyed my stay here. The rooms were clean and the beds were clean and comfortable. The parking lot was well-lit. The check-in staff was very friendly and helpful. The room had TV, microwave, coffee maker (with coffee and cups), and a mini fridge. Enjoyed my overnight stay here. Price was very affordable.

Old Style 50's motel. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff at reception. Clean Rooms and clean beds. Not such a good breakfast. No hot food just cereal and a pastry but to be honest that is the one negative about the facility itself. One other negative and it can only be put down as an error, is that after cleaning, our... Older motor lodge, musty smell, big rooms, tube TV, frig & microwave in the room, nice front staff, free breakfast consisted of coffee & sweet roll. King bed was a little too firm for my taste. Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's ok for an overnight stay.

Sam, thank you for highlighting our spacious rooms with a microwave and fridge, our pleasant staff, and great location convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I'm disappointed your room had a musty smell. That is very unusual for us as you can see by other reviews that rate us high on cleanliness. We will certainly correct that. To clarify, our... More

You're going back to the 1970s here but what's wrong with that? The rooms are big, comfortable and very well priced. OK, the bathrooms are retro, we had a wonderful pink basin and toilet, something you don't often find these days, but everything worked and my shower and shave was just as good as it would have been in a... I can't help but chuckle at your opening line, David! I couldn't agree more -- there's nothing wrong with a quick trip back to the 70's. Thank you for taking the time to share this glowing recommendation for us here on TripAdvisor. I appreciate your support and hope you'll keep us in mind next time you're in Roanoke. Our door's... The hotel had decent accommodations for the night we were there. The rooms are large, the bathroom ok. The hotel clerk in the morning is much more pleasant than the night shift. It was raining so we did not use the pool although it looked fine. Breakfast in the back of the check in lobby is minimal but will be... More

I appreciate you taking the time to share this valuable feedback with me. That said, I'm disappointed to read it was just an average stay, and I'm eager to know how we could improve. It sounds like you enjoyed your large room and convenience location, so I'm all ears on how we could further impress. Hope to hear from you,... More

Beds - mushy AC equipment - loud cycle alternated with "off" cycle, as opposed to consistent hum. Breakfast - a few rolls, fruit loops and coffee. not very good. Expedia price was actually almost $20 more than what the hotel manager told me the charge was. I found this confusing, but not worth disputing with Expedia.

As you can imagine, I'm very concerned to read that you had such a poor experience. That's certainly not the impression we wish to leave on our valued guests and I want to offer my sincerest apology that you didn't have the 5-star stay you deserve. We've been serving Roanoke for 50 years, and recognize that we have some improvements... More

This was the hotel where stayed at the end of our first day on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very economical, comfortable, and clean. Breakfast was strictly continental - cereal, danish, and coffee. I need something a bit more substantial for food, but for the price I can't complain. The pictures are representative - not photoshopped or altered in any way... More
