I stayed at the Black Lantern Inn this weekend. It was my first visit and it definitely won't be my last. Ron and Claire are the greatest hosts. The house is wonderful and the meals are so amazing you will be glad you didn't sleep through breakfast. The Skyline Room is a must for a quiet weekend retreat. Visit this... More

We were very pleased with the entire experience. Ron & Claire made us feel very welcome. Ron has done many remodel projects at the house and you will likely take some ideas back to your home. The kitchen is really cool. The immaculate house is the result of Ronnie's skill as a detailed contractor. We stayed in the Tiger Room... More

So many things can be said about the Black Lantern Inn. From the local to the service was excellent. Everything about it a first class. We drove from Southern Maryland to Roanoke for a nice quiet getaway and got much more than that. Ron & Claire made us feel welcome. The accomodations were spotless, the Breakfast was YUMMYLISIOUS. The location... More

The Black Lantern Inn will surpass all of your expectations of quality, friendliness and cleanliness. Ron and Claire are incredible hosts. Not only did Ron pick me up from the airport, he even dropped me off downtown for a conference and he called to check on me when I took the bike out for a rainy day. Chicagoans, you will... More

One of the most comfortable rooms I have ever stayed in. It was beautifully decorated, the bed was very comfortable and it was spotless! The owners were nice and offered great suggestions for dinner. Breakfast was great. Would definitely return. More

We have stayed in many B&Bs, but few of them measure up to The Black Lantern. What a find and what a great value! Ron and Claire have done a superb job of renovating an old house into a beautiful inn. Ron's workmanship is truly outstanding as my husband who is in the construction industry noted during our stay. There... More

Like the other reviews on this site, my wife and I have very good things to stay. We were in Roanoke for a wedding, but the hotels that the bride and groom recommended were all booked by the time we tried to make reservations. What seemed like misfortune turned out to be good luck in disguise. Ron and Claire, the... More

This is our third stay at Black Lantern and we continue to be impressed with the accommodations, the food and the personal attention we experience. We would not stay anywhere else. My husband, the engineer, cannot believe the level of detail taken in every room of this exquisitely decorated B&B. I, the cook, cannot believe the level of detail taken... More

My boyfriend and I were travelling from Tennessee to D.C. and decided to stop here in Roanoke for two nights. The Inn is immaculately clean and impressively decorated. The workmanship, as others have noted, is impressive. You can tell this was a labor of love. But the service is what really makes this place stand out. Ron was such a... More

Exceptional breakfast, beautiful rooms, and personable inn keepers - what's not to like! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Black Lantern Inn. I think my boyfriend may send me to take cooking lessons from Ron because, let's face it, Ron puts me to shame! Ha! We thought our rooms were fantastic and we had such fun visiting with Ron... More
