by far the most run down, dirty, scariest place I have ever stayed. Rooms smelled of mold (and who knows what else)-burn holes and stains on the blankets and sheets. I found a lava of some sort on the sheets. The carpets smelled-toliet had molded all around the bottome. Hairs (from down there) were all over the bedspread and blanket.... more

I've never written a hotel review before but after one night at the Roanoke Howard Johnson, I feel the need to warn others. My room smelled like cat pee, my mother's smelled like bug spray. When we pulled the stained comforter down, the bed sheets actually had cigarette burns! There was a can of bug spray visable in the hall... more

Stayed here for a night recently. It is a mess. Photos on the hotel website must be years out of date. Place is very run down - grounds are overgrown, paint has flaked of the walls and is all over the grounds. Business Centre ! is 2 old PCs in the grotty lobby and all the keyboards stick. Owners don't... more

Traveling back from North Carolina to PA, we stopped overnight to stay at this hotel because they allow dogs. We have a small and well behaved chihuahua. The rates seemed really reasonable and they included an "expanded" breakfast. We arrived at the front desk around midnight. First bad sign was that the check in guy was super slow, took forever... more

I was in Roanoke this past weekend with a group of 7 (I'm the only guy) for an event with our job, so everything was pre-booked. When we walked out of the airport, the "old raggedy van" was a clear indication that this was going to be interesting! A short 5 minute drive to the property was very exciting......until we... more

We stayed here because we were tired from travelling all day and they allowed dogs. When my wife woke in the morning, the bottom sheet and mattress pad had ridden up revealing an eighteen inch diameter blood stain! The Hotel foyer smelled of urine in the morning and we were glad to depart. more

I do overnight business travel about 3 to 4 days a month. This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff there never smiled and acted like my request for a printed receipt was outrageous. The hotel grounds were a mess, the pool was closed, the beds were hard, and the "hot" breakfast was a... more

I checked in at the Howard Johnson's at Airport Roanoke.....upon my arrival...I checked in...went to my room 427......and was in horror at what I saw. There was feces smeared on the wall over the bed.....yes I said feces. The bathroom was nasty with hair and slimy with soap scum and obviously had not been cleaned. The carpet hadn't been vaccumed... more

The Howard Johnson Airport Roanoke is a great hotel, if all you want is a basic, convenient place to stay. The room was clean, and the hotel is very convenient to the airport and other venues in Roanoke. I was a little worried when I looked at the map: the hotel is right beside the airport. I was afraid plane... more
