We have a lovely three week stay at the GlenCoe Inn. We were working while in Portsmouth and loved coming 'home' each day to our comfortable room and lovely balcony overlooking the water. We always felt very welcome and enjoyed a relaxed breakfast each morning before heading off to work but felt on vacation each weekend with a lovely long... more

We stayed at the Glencoe just after we were married (2006), and my husband surprised me for our third anniversary and took me back to the Glencoe for a special night. When we arrived, Anne struck up the conversation like it had only been a few months, not a few years! Delightful! Anne had a bottle of wine ready for... more

From the bone china tea cups sitting on our kitchenette table, to the port in the decanter awaiting us in our room, to the view of the river from our 3rd floor deck, and the most honorable mention, the smell of scones and coffee wafting to our room in the morning, it fulfilled a much needed respite. Oh, and the... more

We needed someplace special to spend the Thanksgiving holiday -- a home away from home -- and we found it at the Glencoe Inn. Ann was warm and welcoming as was the Inn. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We already are looking forward to our next visit to the Inn and with Ann and her interesting Friday... more

Of all our travels home and abroad this was one of the top B&B's we have stayed at. The rooms were great with a firm bed and loads of space including a small kitchenette. Our deck overlooked the river and was very private as well. Anne was a great host vwey knowledgeable of the history of the area as well... more

I was showing my wife this history rich area of United States and picked the Glencoe Inn as a starting point. Its perfect location allows walking to town or the ferry in just a couple of minutes. Anne, is a gracious host and provides a wealth of information about the Portsmouth area. And along with a Scottish flair inside the... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights for a romantic getaway. The beds are of high quality and a decanter with port is left in your room along with chocolate mints--you can't beat that. The bathroom was huge too. We had a view of the garden and the Elizabeth River. The owner offers wine and appetizers on Friday... more
