After reading several of the reviews I was skeptical about staying at Mountain Lake, but my wife was looking an all inclusive hotel so we decided to give it a chance. First I was very concerned about no having AC. We stayed over July 4th weekend and this was not a concern. They have ceiling fans as well as fans... More

We stayed in two of the cottages on the ridge, Fincastle and Spruce Run, for my parents' 50th anniversary. The "we" included their four children (eight with spouses) plus nine grandchildren. This was a lot of togetherness! The cottages each had kitchens, so we had breakfast and lunch there. In the evenings down at the Inn there were activities such... More

I plan to have a wedding at the Lake in June 2006, I have been planning for a year. Mountain Lake is a beautiful place, however the staff is not so beautiful. I got the run around for the past year about times, cost and such. I am only having a wedding at the gazebo because I know from experience... More

I felt the need to write a fair review of Mountain Lake. My husband and I have been visiting the Lake for several years, consecutively. Reason being the seclusion from every day hectic and busy life. If you are going there for all the modern day comforts as some call them-(Television, air conditioning and other man made conveniences) then maybe... More

We went to Mountain lake for our second time in July of this year. We are planning on going again in July of next year. We stayed in the Virginia House on the Lake aND TRULLY ENJOYED IT. There is no other cabbin I would want. Its right on the lake. Watching the fire works on 4th of July was... More

My husband and I wanted a quick get away for a night. Thank God we did not stay in the Main Building, as it was hot and there IS NO A/C. We stayed at The Chestnut Lodge, with NO A/C, I will say, I DID SLEEP WELL as it was quiet, but what else could I to do? They told... More

Mountain Lake Hotel is a beautiful historic place. Nestled in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. The appearance of the hotel and grounds is immaculate. The accomodations are traditional and classic. We've visited twice, but will never return. At our last visit, my husband and I reserved one of the luxury suites in the old hotel. We were all set to... More

We stayed here many yrs ago so maybe it's not fair to review but our cottage room and the food were horribly disappointing and we fled to the Homestead Resort. A supposed gourmand acquaintance had given it high marks. I would be careful about booking more than a few nights unless they've overhauled the rooms and the food service.

We went to Mountain Lake for our anniversary. Two things I should say upfront--they don't have A/C and they don't have TV in the room. Both things are important to my husband :-) It did get a little warm at night with out the AC and I do enjoy having a TV in the room to watch later in the... More

A wonderful, wonderful place for families, and couples alike. This is everything you could want from a mountain resort with all activities there. We went with our 4 year old and 1 year old and had a truly lovely time. Even though the weather was not what we expected (summer, yet it rained for an entire day was very chilly... More
