Our family stayed at the Mountain Lake Hotel over Labor Day weekend. I'll preface this review by saying that this is a place that has obviously seen better days. Don't let this stop you from booking, though. This hotel is in an amazing location. Right on top of a mountain, surrounded by forests and amazing views! The drive up and... More

My wife & I recently spent 3 days at Mountain Lake in the Southwestern part of Virginia. The mountains around the Lake provided many trails for mountain biking and hiking. The Hotel grounds provided a relaxing and casual atmosphere. The "historic" cabin was comfortable with satelite TV, frig, coffee maker and microwave (bring your supplies!, no stores nearby) and updated... More

Dirty Dancing Weekend at the Mountain Lake Hotel turned out to be a really good time, all things considered. The hotel itself is a beautiful, old stone structure, but unfortunately, management has allowed the cabins, outbuildings and landscaping to deteriorate considerably. Our room in the Chestnut Lodge was dirty, the furniture was dated, and the beds were uncomfortable. Housekeeping never ran... More

We stayed for several days including the Dirty Dancing weekend. This is an essential trip for a Dirty Dancing fan. The mountaintop location was truly superb. For us, the lake not being full was only a minor distraction and the GM did note that they were working on a solution. However... Outdoor hot tub was not working. Poolside snack shack... More

I did not realize we were only a 3.5 hour drive from where much of “Dirty Dancing” was filmed, until a two-night special package was offered on “Bid on Charlotte”. I put in a bid and we won one of the packages. They have a “Dirty Dancing” weekend once a month during the time they are open, the middle of... More

My boyfriend and I chose to go for the "Dirty Dancing" themed weekend - an all inclusive package that incuded board, food and activities. The communication between management via email was outstanding! There wasnt a question that I asked that didnt go unanswered promptly. The dining room manager, Fran, was very personable, often calling us by name! She was very... More
