Our family did a lot of research before going to Mountain Lake Lodge and from the lodge's viedos and website, it appeared to be a great luxury resort tucked in the Virginia mountains. It's tucked in the Virginia mountains, but it is far from luxury. The room in the lodge was dirty, the bathroom resembled that of a middle school... More

I've been going to Mountain Lake for years but have only stayed one time, about 10 years ago. Last weekend, my husband and I decided to get away for the night and purchased the "bed and breakfast" package. We arrived on a Sunday, just in time for their famous buffet brunch which is delicious. They had everything from a carving... More

Our family has visited this lodge 3 previous times (2001, 2003, 2007) and we visited over July 4th weekend. The lake is still low and until this is "fixed" I think the lodge will continue to suffer as the lake is the reason for the lodge. Hiked a few trails which were great. Kayaked and swam in the lake and... More

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary over 4th of July weekend. The hotel is decor and atmosphere is very charming. We loved that there are no tvs in the rooms because it made us go out and talk with other guests. The rooms are nicely decorated and fairly comfortable. They have a bonfire at night and we... More

Jenn, Thanks so much for your personal letter and this review on tripadvisor to follow up. We care very much about our guests and their experience at the "new" Mountain Lake Lodge. I apologize that is has taken a few weeks to return a response and an acknowledgement to you. As you can imagine, from being affiliated with the hotel... More

The property is beautiful but the rooms need updating. I was not aware there were no TVs in the rooms nor air conditioning. There is no soap, only a soap dispenser hung on the wall of the shower. Unfortunately, the sink is in the room so you have to carry the soap in your hand as you open the door... More

Erica, Thanks so much for your review and for recently staying with us at Mountain Lake Lodge. I am interested in knowing where you stayed on the property. A majority of the Lodge has been recently refreshed and remodeled - Main Stone Lodge, Chestnut Lodge, Front Lawn Cottages. Our Richmond/Thompson and Historic Row Cabins are still very rustic and are... More

We spent 2 nights over the July 4 weekend at the main lodge. Pluses - the location and scenery are really beautiful, and the staff were very helpful (although many of them were young and didn't really know much about the location). Our room was good, on the north side - the beds were really comfortable and no problems with... More

We attended the festivities on Saturday, July 4th, 2014. The band was wonderful and the whole atmosphere was amazing. Such a beautiful setting and a warm family atmosphere. The fireworks were out of this world!! Simply the best show I have seen in years. And if you are lucky enough to be there for a Sunday brunch, the trip is... More

I grew up in Giles County (Narrows) and have roamed the mountains of Giles for many of my 41 years. I have a unusual love for those mountains. Mountain Lake Lodge is truly on top of the world! It's many features, food, amenities, experiences, and last but not least, the people are what makes it so special. I recently attended... More

I am so glad some of the negative reviews didn't scare us off! We booked the weekend through the Certifikid website, and we have had a WONDERFUL time! This place is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing! We stayed in the main Lodge on the first floor. I was afraid I would be hot with no AC, because I am very hot... More

My family and I traveled to Mountain Lake Lodge to spend a week late last month (June 2014). The resort has amazing potential but, sadly, falls very short of reaching it. I'm somewhat conflicted on whether to go in to the problems we had during our stay simply because, in the end, the management made things right. I hope they... More
