We had read reviews of this Lodge and were surprised at how good those reviews were before we stayed there. My wife and I are seniors and we can only say that the wonderful experience we had at the lodge in our 2 night stay December 6 and 7 even exceeded those reviews. Mutsuo is a fantastic chef and the... John and Mutso have always made my family and I incredibly welcome at the lodge and this past week has been no exception. With two young kids and a dog, the place is paradise...we stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage on site. The cottage is perfect for families and pets. Our kids have adored feeding and petting the friendly horses... More

Not really into writing reviews but perfection shouldn't go un noticed. We booked for 2 nights and extended twice, we didn't want to leave. The estate itself is nothing short of stunning, the views the bird song, river, and the amazing golf course. The lodge is beautiful, the food so fresh and presentation second to none. I travel a lot... More

We had an amazing time in this fabulous setting. Chef Mutsuo was a wonderful host who did everything to make our trip magical. We learned how to make some delicious, traditional Japanese dishes using hand-picked produce from the lodges exquisite gardens. We also had some of the best breakfast of our lives. Having horses and alpacas around made the trip... More

We have recently spent 4 memorable days and nights at Puketotara Lodge and we are already making plans to revisit as soon as we can. An upgrade into a king room at no extra cost, and delectable breakfasts cooked by chef Matsuo using fresh ingredients from his extensive vegetable garden and his chickens, made our stay very special indeed. We... More

I've written on here before about the lodge and the estate. The place is paradise, it's peaceful, scenic and extremely welcoming. My family and I stayed in the two bedroom cottage on the estate and also brought up our dog.....we were all in paradise (especially the dog!) You can walk, fish, golf and enjoy all the animals and organic fruit!... More

Chose this for our wedding anniversary: brilliant location with friendly and very welcoming staff. John and Mutsuo go out of their way to make the visit a home from home experience. Beautiful environment with spectacular views. Will definitely visit again, and recommend very highly to any discerning traveler who wants fine food, peace and tranquility, and exceptional company.

This is the second time we have stayed at Puketotara Lodge. We enjoyed our stay at Christmas so much that we came back mid winter. We have stayed in the cottage each time. The view is of rolling hills and bush and landscaped gardens with bird song all around. Friendly alpacas (llamas??) and horses put the noses over the fence... More
