The scenery from the lodge (and its decks) is absolutely beautiful. So peaceful. The hosts, John + Mutsuo, are friendly and accommodating. They took us on a tour around the property and we could see they prided themselves on what they had achieved in such a short period of time. Even the animals (dog, horses + alpacas) got in on the... You know how often do you say that [I'll be back] to a restaurant, hotel, B&B whatever, but in fact you often don't make it. Well we did, and it was better than last time [see my other review of this place (Good, Better, Best). This time we stayed in the cottage on Puketotara's estate - because last time we... More

Beautifully appointed lodge set on a stunning landscape, exactly the kind of place you would hope to find yourself in after that slog of a drive up from Auckland. Marvellous food and a solicitous welcome at what is a really great retreat just a stone's throw from Keri Keri and a short drive to some of the best spots in... More

Incredible hospitality, beautiful surrounds and fabulous people! We arrived on Christmas Day, after traveling from Australia via Auckland. Feeling a little bit bad for intruding on their Christmas, we thought we’d just get our room and take it easy. However, we were absolutely delighted with a genuine and warm welcome from John and Mitzu. Upon arrival, they handed us a... More

Our family spent 3 nights in the cottage at Puketotara Lodge. I must say that the cottage is great and the property itself is absolutely fabulous. They have about 30 beautiful rolling acres complete with a fruit orchard, new vineyard, ponds, stream, and a bush trail. My two girls had the best time exploring the property and spending time with... More

I was there to attend a friend's wedding who were to be married at the Lodge itself. The first thing I was struck by was the beauty of the place so green and peaceful. I needed a couple of days to myself before the wedding and and so had some time to spend with John and Mutsuo, the owners.. They... More

Kerikeri for a wine tasting function on a very wet Saturday. Back to the lodge; roaring log fire; large and comfortable room (reverse cycle air con) with spabath, large widescreen in room but better still, very large widesrceen in lounge watching World Cup Rugby all evening. Great roast beef cooked by chef and shared with us guests. The best. Too... More

Elaine and I know the Kerikeri area having visited for holidays numerous times. Deciding to try Puketotara was one of those spur of the moment decisions that we'll never regret. GOOD ...was our opinion as we were greeted, (after a late lunch at Marden Vinyard [A+ casual dining/wine tasting]) saw the room and were shown the facilities, the beautiful setting... More
