Martinborough is a quiet little place where the only disturbance is the sound of the vines growing. The Old Manse sits on a corner by rows of potential Pinot Noir. We were welcomed by Malcolm the new owner and invited to choose a room as we were the only guests. He then said that drinks and nibbles would be served... More

This guesthouse was more expensive than we would normally choose, however we quickly discovered that it was worth every cent. The room and communal lounge were both comfortable and the view over the vineyards was delightful. We were made to feel welcome from the first minute, and the pre-dinner drinks and nibbles was a master stroke. I usually try to... More

This lovingly restored B&B is charming, clean, crisp, and is run by a wonderful couple that will pamper you beyond expectations. We were given such a warm welcome, and then pleasantly surprised at the lavish "happy hour" offerings of savory gourmet appetizers, and a variety of wines. It was a congenial opportunity to sit down and chat with the hosts... More

Nice place, beautifully restored house with attention to detail, quality and care in all aspects - towels, food, decor. Hospitality from John was superb, a genuine, caring and experienced host who seemed to know just what was needed. Happy hour around the fire was relaxed and very pleasant with John providing drinks and nibbles for the guests who wanted to... More

Nothing was too much trouble - John was a wonderful welcoming host. The place and location is great for Martinborough. The drinks and nibbles with other guests at 6pm was a surprise treat & a lovely touch. John then dropped us off at our restaurant. The rooms are comfortable. The breakfast choice was great. A great place to stay. This... More

What a fantastic place to find at the end of a long drive. We were met by John, a fantastic host. He had lit the log fire and greeted us warmly and with a glass of wine (always a winner) we had the house to ourselves And an excellent breakfast in the morning. More than worth our stay. Thank you.

Just a charming place and host in John, who apart from the lovely restored building, really makes the stay special. Really welcoming and authentic decoration and style to the Old Manse. A great stay, great breakfast options and lovely open fire. Its a BB style as stated so shared very large lounge, kitchen and dinning area, with plenty of space... More

This beautifully restored cottage is a real gem. The bathrooms are so elegant with gold taps and the bedroom was nicely decorated. The owners make you feel at home. There was a log fire burning in the lounge which gave it such a cosy feeling. Hearty cooked breakfast. Highly reommended.

We would highly recommend staying at The Old Manse in Mantinborough - its superb value for money and a real taste of true New Zealand. The house itself is lovely, we had a small suite and it was immaculate. The owners, John & Sandra really make it - they meet you and recommend vinyards to visit, places for lunch, places... More

John and Sandra gave our motorcycling group a very warm welcome when we stayed with them recently. Our night at the Old Manse was one of the highlights of our 10 day tour of the country. We were treated to an evening of fine wine/beer and nibbles with the rest of the house guests. Breakfast was superb too. Truly a... More
