We hadn't been back to Walhalla for over 30 years, and just went for the overnight stay at the Star, which was terrific. Location is perfect in the heart of town meaning that you are central to all the walks and historic attractions.

We stayed hre for two nights. Rebuild in 1999 by the present owner, Very nice hotel in the centre of the city , goldmine city Clean and good rooms with a balcony in front. Basic breakfast but OK ,no problem. Opposite the Hotel is a stairway up the hill and a racking to the station.

This is a very boutique style hotel housed within a replica building from the 19th century goldrush era. However the rooms are bang up to date, but no TV and rather wobbly wifi. But that is the charm of both the hotel and Walhalla. Peace and quiet after the day visitors have gone

The hotel is a lovely recreation of the old Hotel, and has been done up with care. We had two rooms, both spacious, clean and comfortable in a minimalistic style, each with a small garden area to sit and read. Free tea/coffee making facilities in the communal lounge area made it a welcome retreat from the heat. The small train... More

This is a very boutique style hotel housed within a replica building from the 19th century goldrush era. The town of Walhalla is unique and historic and the Star Hotel fills the need for quality accommodation in this special town. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable in a minimalistic style and offered tea/coffee making facilities on the landing, a... More

A unique hotel in a unique town. Excellent rooms with balcony overlooking the street very pleasant hosts in a very welcoming homely hotel. Unfortunately we arrived in low cloud and rain but it did not dampen our spirits in this really interesting old mining town. The hotel and town are well worth the diversion from the main routes. The mountain... More

I had always wanted to go to Walhalla and it surpassed all my expectations. I loved the Star Hotel. It is a fabulous town for children or just couples. My advice is to do everything that is on offer and you will learn a lot. The post office, Train ride, trip down the mine, visit to the cemetery, and walk... More

Walhalla options are really the Star Hotel or B & B's or self catering rentals. We opted for the Star and weren't disappointed. At $289 for dinner, bed and breakfast it fitted the bill for us. The owners, Michael, Michael and Russell, were friendly and helpful. The rooms were basic but the beds were good and we had a balcony... More

As a repeat visitor to Walhalla, I've found Michael and the staff at the Star absolutely lovely to deal with. The hotel is clean, spacious and peaceful. The meals are hearty. The ambiance is lovely. Best of all, Michael is a terrific resource on the town and surround's history and how best to enjoy it. It's a lovely spot to... More

Beautiful hotel restored according to photos from the hey-day of Walhalla in the early 1900. Looking out on the balcony is like being on a movie set, everything looks the same as it used hundred years ago. Except it is a lot more quiet nowadays. The room are spacious and well furnished while still preserving the spirit of the town.... More
