This is my 17th time coming to shrine mont with family friends. We rent miller cabin and the other houses for a week. We don't just stay on shrine mint property, we leave and go to other places such as horse back riding, kayaking in the Shenandoah river, lake Laura and Bryce mountain to go zip lining or tubing. When... More

The staff here are so kind, the food is so good, and the sleep you get is priceless! I came for a conference last year and thought I would relive the horrors of summer camp as a child, but I found the quiet and simplicity such a good escape that I came back again. Yes, you can bring a radio... More

We have been to this retreat center more than 20 times and each time we find something else interesting and special. The architecture is so interesting, the history of the hotel and the surrounding area always provides something new. The scenery is outstanding, the accommodations are basic but comfortable. The food seems to get better each visit, the staff are... More

Shrine Mont is a wonderful place to get away and enjoy the Virginia mountains and has lots of things to do. Tennis and golf are close and there is some nice, not difficult hiking trails It is only two hours from the DC area.

After reading these reviews I was a little concerned that I would go through electronic device withdrawal, but there is internet in the main lobby. The food and service was spectacular. They sold used books to read for $1 and also had an extensive book store with a wide range of interesting books. Most important, it was QUIET. Lots of... More

We were attending a concert in Orkney Springs that was part of the annual Shenandoah Music Festival so decided to spend the night there instead of driving home at a late hour. The Shrine Mont lodging is very basic (2 twin beds, no TV/radio/air conditioning) but as long as it's not TOO hot you can get by comfortably. Each room... More

Had not been back here for several years but we were invited to a Spring wedding. The rooms in Maryland House have been updated and as long as you enjoy a basic room (i.e., clean, private bathroom, no TV, no phone, no AC, limited closet storage) this is a great place to stay. And it is hard to beat the... More

We've come here numerous times in the past 6 years. Even though the accomodations are very basic, the staff is great. Over the years, they've been extremely responsive in requests for more fruit and healthy options. Their Saturday lunch menu is great. Scenic, restful -- this retreat location is loved by many!

Don't waste your time or money going here. You're gonna hate it. Unless you're a religious nerd, you won't have any fun here. The food stinks, the activities are overrated and don't really build character. The dorms look like they haven't been renovated in over a decade. Not to mention, it's in the middle of nowhere in a backwards part... More

The best way to disconnect from the world. No TV or phones. No A/C. Internet hot spots are available. The food is out of this world and you won't be disappointed. Meals are served family style "up the hill" and buffet at the "hotel". Bring a fan for warm evenings. Ask about the hay ride. Hikes for all ages and... More
