Got off the boat in Penneshaw and walked about 3 minutes up a slight hill to the YHA. Clearly signposted. Check is was a breeze and the reception was full of informative leaflets and posters which helped us plan the rest of our stay in KI. Room was very clean and beds comfortable. Bed sheets provided and check out process... More

We have stayed in numerous YHA establishments in Australia (and around the world) and we have been surprised by some truly wonderful accommodations. Unfortunately, this is not one of those YHAs. There has been no concession to comfort here, whatsoever; the rooms are cramped (with the exception of the family room) with the feel of a hospital ward – floors... More

It all started pretty nice. Small hostel, good location and easy check-in. We booked the hostel as a part of a package, booked at the YHA Adelaide Central. After waking up after our first night we saw a cockroach in the bathroom. We then went out on a very nice tour afterwards and when we came back to the hostel... More

Stayed at the hostel as part of a package I'd booked with sea link, staying two nights with a highlights day tour. The hostel is only small so there aren't many other people there, however saying that I did manage to have my food from the kitchen stolen, I know it's not the hostels fault and other guests are to... Lots of like minded travellers found here. I made friends straight away from Australia, Japan and China. The facilities are basic so don't expect too much. I stayed in a dorm room and the bed was comfy. The bathroom was very basis but did the trick. The manager was very helpful and really nice. Make sure you come to KI... More

Great value , as a couple we stayed there, rooms are neat and tidy and bathrooms clean and no problems with booking (late March), the lady lady was really friendly and helpful. It is located really close to small township in Penneshaw with superette and food outlets close by, I would recommend if you are travelling on a budget.

I stayed here with my sister and we had booked a private room as mentioned by previous reviewers this meant a shared bathroom. Too be honest it was ok, basic, room cleanish - not immaculate but it was the experience which we enjoyed. We met some lovely people the owner was friendly and provided some helpful advice. We met travellers... More

This is a strange hostel. There are 7 motel-like rooms which act as dorms or en suite doubles/twins. Each of these has bunk beds, sometimes a double bed, lockers, table and chairs, heater and a bathroom with loo, basin and shower. They are good rooms, nice and light, with a large window giving a view of the bay. Rooms 8... More

We stayed here 1 night in July 2013 after the short flight from Adelaide to Kangaroo island and hired ad car at the airport. Penneshaw is a very pretty little town with character of its own. The hostel was very quiet the night we arrived but the kitchen was clean and tidy and the common room area cosy. Rooms were... More

Great clean and trusting hostel! Close to the beach and shop/pub etc. No deposits for towels, crockery etc. Libby was very helpful with advice on what to do and where to eat and always enquiring about our day. Penneshaw is very quiet in April!
