The Flinders Ranges are dramatic and austerely beautiful. Visit the Prairie Hotel in the late afternoon to watch the sunset glow on the mountains and stay for dinner. A group of 30 friends of all ages had a wonderful evening here. The food was excellent, the service good and the setting wonderful. If you are anywhere in the vicinity, do... More

Food style is Australian bush tucker. Beautifully prepared and cooked this rivals the best of its class in any of the capital cities around Australia and yet here it is in the middle of the Australian Outback, right on the edge of the desert! Location is special. To the front of the hotel is nothing. There's a salt lake somewhere... More

To get a bit of the "outback feel" we booked a night in this place and enjoyed the stay very much. It is well worth the journey and apart from a "special" hotel you get a lovely meal in the restaurant, yum!

We stayed at the Prairie Hotel for one night as part of a 5 day trip in the Flinders Rangers. Have always wanted to stay here and it did not disappoint. From having a cold Coopers watching the sun set, getting the fire stoked, delicious dinner and then reuniting with guests in front of a blazing fire under the stars.... More

I have been to the Prairie Hotel on four occasions now and each time I have been disappointed. The first was with the intention to stay for the weekend but unable to get accommodation I stayed in Blinman and booked into the Prairie for lunch. I had heard a lot of good reviews about the hotel and food and had... More

The environment is like no other. The hotel rooms are modern, with all the amenities. The dining room serves up tasty and original food. The proprietors are pithy, and the guests very interesting. Memories to last a life time. Don't miss the postprandial coal train.

We hired a Fettlers Cottage as the rooms were full and quite enjoyed the self contained accomodation and access to the hotel bar and restaurant for the evening meal. This is a wonderful part of the world and the Hotel has so much character, great food, although expensive, and good service. The bracing night walk to the cabin under a... More

It didn't look much when we flew in, but the staff were so friendly and welcoming you soon relaxed. Then you meet the locals and other guests and it gets even better, them you're treated to food a city resturant would be proud to produce. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. I loved every second.

Thank you to the Farger family for a fabulous weekend at the Prairie! This place is such a unique and special spot - fabulous nights spent drinking by the bonfire! Delicious food (highly recommend the goat curry!) and rooms were clean and spacious - cant wait to come back!
