For my money, this may be the most relaxing place on Earth. I spent the better part of a week sleeping a few feet from the beach (camping), sharing stories with fellow travelers and making drinks at the honor bar. Paradise. If it's service you're after, you've come to the wrong place. If it's pampering you're after, you've come to... More

Ivan's is the perfect place in paradise. A spot for anyone that love the peacefulness of life. The staff, rooms, food etc. Is excellent. I've read some negative comments , but when I got there I found a totally different atmosphere. With all the distractions in life, Ivan's is totally the place to stay on Jost.

Someone commented about Ivan's having the worst service. Well, Ivan's is best enjoyed if you drop the 'serve me' notion at the ferry dock. There are other accommodations that have the service angle covered on Jost. Ivan's is more 'communal' in it's approach to getting your personal needs met. Serve Thyself is the motto here, and while you're at it... More

This past weekend we were lucky enough to be on Jost. Met some friends, missed the last ferry back to Tortola, was told, "no problem, mon, Ivans still has rooms". Made the trek to Ivans,( our friends had made reservations over 2 months previously). No one was there, they called the number and after a short wait, Ivan's daughters came... More

Last June we traveled to St. John with friends and extended family (our 10th trip down in 12 years). Had a great villa but knew that we'd want to take a side trip to Jost. Having done the ferry experience before from STJ and only getting about 5 1/2 hours on island, I decided that we would extend our stay... More

Well, I must say that many of the reviews about Ivan's, good and bad, are accurate about one aspect-- This may not be a place for everyone. We simply camped on the beach, which was breathtaking. Our 'site' was just past the tree line on the beach, plenty of shade. One must understand that when you are here, you are... More

When I read the reviews of this place I was expecting Thailand style huts on the beach with basic amenities i.e. not a lot. There's no doubt this is a slice of paradise, but the attitude of the locals is disgusting. Most of the time there was no one around and the campers attended to themselves, which is fine if... More

This was our first time to spend the night on Jost Van Dyke. Previously, this had only been a daytrip and we loved the island so much, we wanted to spend a weekend instead of just a few hours. We chose Ivan's because of the great setting and for the price. I had read all the reviews, so I was... More

I was not expecting to be wow'd, because of the campground affiliation, but I have to say Wow. This place was fantastic, the view was AMAZING, the deck was nice and roomy and the place was very clean. The bathroom was big, the only drawback was that I didn't have a blanket for 2 nights, my bad mostly because I... More

Been to Ivan's many times since '96 & enjoyed it each time. Have tented & stayed in a cabin. Think of camping in the back yard of a bar on a beautiful beach & you've got Ivan's. Not state park type camping, tho. The plumbing's pretty crappy. Forget the shower. Get a gallon jug, fill it with water (cistern), warm... More
