This is an excellent hotel in the cute town of Onancock on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. If you want to "get away" and enjoy the beautiful scenery and peaceful life of small towns on the Shore, this is the place to stay. Rooms were incredibly comfortable and the food was excellent. Gary and Charlotte and wonderful hosts and I... More

If you just want to get away and stay in a sweet place in a sweet town, this is it. Gary and Charlotte (she is a gift artist by the way) run this lovely place. First rate restaurant for dinner and breakfast inside, as well as very close to galleries and restaurants, and the city dock. I'd definitely go back... More

We had a wonderful stay at The Charlotte Hotel. The room and bed were comfortable; the decor pleasing. The owners, Charlotte and Gary, were very gracious and friendly and made us feel welcome. We had a delicious dinner and would recommend the sheepshead (sea bream) and almond crusted chicken. The potato-carrot cake with the fish and the lime scented spoonbread... More

We decided to do an overnight stay at the Charlotte Hotel on our way to the Outer Banks from PA. Our night at the Charlotte turned out to be better than anything waiting for us in the Outer Banks. The hotel is a gem in a gem of a little town. The room was cozy, immaculate, quiet, and the bed... More

We love this hotel. This was our second visit and we liked it even more. Everything was neat and so clean! The owners couldn't have been friendlier and the food was excellent. The mattresses are so comfy - we slept so well. There are nice artistic touches throughout as the wife is an excellent artist which made the place very... More

I've stayed at the Charlotte three or four times and each stay has been perfect. The rooms are charming, clean, and show the artist's touch, as does the entire hotel. Owners Gary and Charlotte make newcomers feel welcomed; the small bar offers a friendly place to have a drink; and the restaurant is excellent. On my most recent visit, I... More

We spent a night here on our way down the DELMARVA peninsula to Va Beach. We had a reasonable rate for parents in one room and children in another. Rooms are comfortable, bathrooms very nice. We strolled down to the marina and through shops in town--all within minutes of the hotel. Gary was extremely accommodating and made the best gin... More

This is the second summer that we have left our own small Chesapeake Bay town of Urbanna to venture across the Bay for a visit to Onancock and the Charlotte Hotel. Both times it was one of the highlights of our summer! Greeted by friendly faces and a mint julep served in a pewter cup, we settled in and prepared... More

Location couldn't be better. If you prefer original art, beautifully painted walls and old wood floors to std hotel art and wall-to-wall, you'll love this. As guests, we felt that our every need had been creatively anticipated. Our only complaint is that we were promised twin beds but had to take a double which was too small and soft for... More

Charlotte & Gary are the friendliest, most welcoming hosts. Every time we are in Onancock we make sure we have dinner at The Charlotte. The food is fantastic ,served in elegant rooms surrounded by beautiful artwork by Charlotte. When my son's vacation home in Onancock is filled to overflowing we stay at The Charlotte. Bonnie K More
