As a single woman business traveller staying in hotels and B&Bs can be a dispiriting and depressing experience. In big hotels especially you are reduced just to being a room number but not at Maes -Y- Derw. The welcome is what you would expect from an old friend you haven't seen in a while, the rooms are comfortable and well... More

I stayed in the self catering coach house with my partner and our mothers and it was really lovely. Its very spacious which is quite decieving from the outside. Very comfortable double bed in the main bedroom and a bunk bed in the second bedroom and lovely big leather sofa bed downstairs. The bathroom is small but sufficient. The kitchen... More

Myself and my partner planned a trip to visit Wales and stopped with Katherine and Carl. They gave us such a warm welcome to their beauftiful home, giving us advice on where to visit, local attractions and places to eat and ensured our stay was very comfortable and happy. Katherine cooks the most amazing breakfasts with her own eggs, freshly... More

Only a one night stay, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Katharine and Carl are a lovely, obviously hard working, couple who have clearly put lots of effort into making their's a really first class B&B as well as a beautiful home. Immaculate gardens, lovely furniture and really interesting antiques and relics make this a great place to stay whilst visiting... More

We were recommended Maes y Derw by Ludo from Ludo at the Coopers Arms where we had booked a meal. For once everything was perfect! Maes y Derw is set in beautiful gardens. Katherine and Carl met us and were so friendly - they even drove us to the restaurant in the evening. Our twin room was beautifully furnished and... More

Lovely picturesque B&B with fantastically fitted rooms. The house is lovely and Katherine and Carl do everything to make you feel at home - nothing is too much effort for them. Since I was on my own, I was invited for breakfast with the hosts and they will even arrange dinner if requested. The food was fantastic with lots of... More

We had a wonderful 2 night stay. This place is warm and welcoming from the moment you arrive. Furnishings are tasteful and in keeping with the Georgian age of the house. Our room sported wonderful rural views and sitting in the window with a 'cuppa' and magazine was a real treat. Breakfast is excellent with as much as possible homemade,... More

Everything about this house is of the highest standard. Katherine and Carl leave no stone unturned to make guests welcome, and there is a general air of a desire to be helpful and to offer maximum comfort. As an example, although technically well beyond central heating time, they put it on each evening because it was chilly, without our asking.... More

This B&B deserves only the best comments. Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home. The B&B is beautifully decorated and is spotless. A higher standard you cannot get. Breakfast was wonderful and so many things were homemade. Katherine even shared her recipes! More
