Had a lovely 3 nights in this hotel. I am not at all fond of soul-less cookie cutter urban chain motels and this is certainly not one of those. The room was very adequate; clean, simple, comfy. The hotel staff were generous, friendly, accommodating and personable. The building had "character" - a commodity in short supply in most hotels. Loved... More

Had the crab claws and they were delicious All the party were happy with the quality of the food and size of the portions. Two glorious sun-filled days on Tiree were spectacular, but this hotel was not. It's tired and rundown, and does not offer value for money. It's location is on the picturesque harbour and is central for touring the island. The bar is patronised by the working man here and was noisy and unfriendly when we dropped in for a beer. I'm... This hotel is in a glorious location overlooking a tiny harbour but I'm afraid it seems to rely on this, plus an almost complete lack of competition, to charge high end prices for low end provision. I'd requested a sea view but found that it was obscured by failed double-glazing. I was told I could change rooms after 2 nights... More

This has to be the worst place to stay on a trip to the islands. I guess there is no competition but it needs a complete refit to call itself a hotel. The price we paid compared to other hotels on other islands such as Colonsay and Coll was very high for the quality of the accommodation. We would not... More

We recently spend one night at this hotel although we had booked for three. On arrival we were met with an over powering smell of cooking fat. The hotel looked very tired and things did not improve when we entered our room. It also was in need of some TLC and the shower cubicle was a disgrace with black mildew... More

Following our visit to the games in Glasgow we booked this hotel as it was closest to ferry terminal and we had no car. Set in lovely location of the old harbour in Scarinish it does not capitalise on this in any way whatsoever. The food on first night was good as was the service from a delightful waitress (who... Have just returned from a wonderful 3 days at this hotel in Tiree. The staff could not have been more helpful, very clean with lovely large towels and the food excellent. Portion size a bit large for me - if you are going for dinner - skip lunch!! Sadly, it was a bit 'tired' and in need of a full... More

My friend and I booked two single en-suite rooms. One was en-suite (room 11) and the other had a private bathroom (room 8), which anybody had access to. The accommodation was poor, with very poor decor, worn carpets and black mould around the grouting in the bathroom. The room was reasonably clean, but there were lots of cobwebs etc. The... More

If you are coming by air you can pick up a car at the airport, hired from Maclennans, which (if you are not up to cycling) is well worth it to get about, as public transport is limited and walking to places is surprisingly long for a smallish island.. The Scarinish is a typical island hotel, not 5 star but... More
