Free parking? no spaces. Tv,no remote.shower cubicle in room unlit. No plug in the tiny sink. Yes it was cheap ,but for seven pounds more last night I stayed in a lovely hotel.would I stay here again? Only if I was homeless and housed here. The only positive was the friendliness of Alan the manager.

Booked rooms through booking.com. They took a nights payment three times. When I cancelled which I could do for free they never refunded me. I tried emailing but was ignored. Booking.com contacted them still no luck. Beware if you book you might pay more than you expect and you won't get it back

We had a very nice family room on the ground floor. Nice and clean and had everything we needed. Close to Romford town centre so everything is within walking distance. Plenty of parking at the front of the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. Reasonable price. Breakfast was lovely and a lot of choice so caters for everyone. Very... More

I wanted to find positives after reading previous reviews, but unfortunately that wasn't really possible. Check in was fine and the chap was pleasant enough. Our room (16) was at the top of the house, and was exceedingly hot and stuffy. It had been a very hot day, but even so it was not nice. The window was open, but... More

Having noted other reviewers comments we nevertheless chose to late-book the Mawney (price/location) for a one night stay. Efforts have been made to freshen the place with new paint etc but it's let down by the detail. Yes, as per another comment there was a bit of mould (in our quite spacious room 16's shower enclosure): this was because the... More

Stayed here for 2 nights as soon as we got there we thought it was ok but when we were checking in i asked about the wifi i was told that because it was now fully booked on saturday that we were put into rooms at the top of the hotel out the way where no wifi would reach (one... More

I am now a returning customer to the Mawney Hotel and will continue to be so. I spend a lot of time in hotels in the 50 to 60 quid a night range and this is the best i have found so far. It is just off the ring road in Romford so well situated for the town center. The... More

We booked a room here to combine trips into London with seeing family. The welcome was not exactly the warmest, with breakfast times a little hazy as it would depend on who and how many were in! The carpets throughout were garish, ugly and in desperate need of a clean. The room we had was spacious with a double bed... More

I stayed here as I was spending a weekend away in Essex, and travelling to Brentwood to do the towie tour, and considering Romford is not long on the train from Brentwood, this hotel was in a very convenient spot. It is about 15 minute walk from the station, but this isn't to much of a problem. The Brewery is... More
