I had to stay for two nights on business in Romford recently and looked for somewhere with an eye to price, rather than quality. Which is just as well. For the £50 a night, I received a double room with a really comfortable bed and breakfast thrown in. The bathroom was tiny as was the shower, but it worked OK.... More

I suppose it depends which room you get, there was only a choice of two rooms when we booked as the hotel was pretty full, the ground room was a double and very dark, they showed us one on the top floor (loads of stairs), again very basic, no wardrobe and the beds were uncomfortable. The hotel had changed hands... More

So we booked the hotel as no rooms left at travelodge - needed something cheap. Thought it was going to be pretty bad based on peoples previous reviews. Got there and was more than pleasantly surprised. It had had a complete makeover - hotel owner arrived quickly at door and explained all rooms had been redecorated at start of the... More

Stayed in this disgusting 'hotel' a few months ago because all other local hotels were fully booked. I found this place on a google search and believe me the photos that they had and the website was very different from the truth! We called around 8pm to see if there was a room avalible and the price. The man on... More

All staff were friendly and helpful. Some even opened up the bar when a friend came over for a nightcap. Our room was clean & the shower very powerful! Thank you Mawney Hotel! We'd look at staying again if we come back to Romford!

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It has been taken over by new management and they don't seem to be any better than the last. The room stinks of smoke, was unclean , curtains hanging off the window, broken lamp shade and very very dated. We asked for the heating to be turned on... More

Should have gone to this hotel with work, got to the hotel to be told they had double booked and they were full. Wasn't too disappointed after reading the reviews though but as the Olympics were on the nearest we could find was in Epping Forest (Best Western). This was o.k. but a bit pricey at £120 (£150 if you... More
