Visited the flying horse for food a week or so ago on recommendation from a friend. The food was not the cheapest and the male barman/waiter that waited on us was very inappropriately dressed with a shirt unbuttoned down to his naval as if he was a butler in the buff type. The starter of black pudding and bacon tower... More

First time we've been here since it started serving food. Fantastic!! The place is so much cosier with the decorations and a big plus point is the real fires regularly kept blazing! The food is spot on. Presentation and taste are tremendous. Asked for olives as well and got jalepenos and pickles thrown in! (Straight through to the bonus round)... More

After reading MikeHyde's account of his stay in August; mirrors my stay at this place. There is still a note on the bathroom door that say's do not use the shower. The room was grubby looking, furniture looked as if it came from the dump, also stains on the little table by the dresser. Wallpaper was ripped in places or... More

I was visiting Rochdale and went into the pub to ask for assistance as the battery on my car had gone flat. It was mid afternoon on a Wednesday and very quiet. Unfortunately no one inside had jump leads but the landlord very helpfully rang a local garage & even his father to see if he could come & help.... More

Used this venue for a client evening for 10 people for an evening meal with a presentation. Venue is beautiful, food looked great (unfortunately I didn't eat meal, however I didn't resist when i saw the sticky toffee pudding). Rating comes mainly though from customer service. Peter was attentive throughout the evening, curious, and friendly. Made the evening run very... More

Friendly and efficient staff. Large selection of real ales and ciders. Pleasant comfortable rooms above the pub. Fantastic live bands playing every weekend. This is a big live band venue which gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights when live bands play until the early hours.

I and my brother stayed here for one night when we were attending the Rugby League grand final at Old Trafford. We booked here through necessity as central Manchester was very booked up and pricey. However the Flying Horse turned out to be a perfect base. The rooms were perfectly serviceable and incredibly reasonably priced. The welcome was warm, the... More

Visited the Flying Horse at lunchtime prior to an appt at Town Hall just opposite. Lovely wine choice and menu looked reasonable and tempting. Due to time constraints didn't order but noted that accommodation available. Later in day realised that we would need to stay in Rochdale overnight and returned hoping to be able to book a room in this... More

I really enjoyed my meal here. The staff could not have been more pleasant. I would reccomend this place to any of my friends. Prices very reasonable. facilities clean. First class. A good selection of really nice real ales on draught and nice clientelle. Somehow the Landlord manages to keep far more order than one might expect in a town... More

I was in Rocchdale for a birthday celebration and did not want to travel home as copious amounts of alcohol would be involved and taxi fares quoted to me were just on the wrong side of extortionate. I searched the usual websites but they were listing hotels that were too expensive or, inconveniently, too far away. A relative suggested this... More
