Very nice staff and bar area. Bedroom was lovely although a little small. Bathroom was awful, shower didn't stay in bracket as it was cracked and the water pressure was dreadful and cold, I could also smell drains. Good location as bus station outside and train just a few minutes walk.

Me and my partner had travelled a long way to visit family for the easter weekend and we found this hotel was perfect location and was what we wanted, although on arrival the room was ready although the private separate bathroom was discussing used towels on the floor shower was dirty and excrement in and around the toilet. On complaint... More

I went to the Stag today at lunchtime. Nice and freshly decorated . When we asked for food we were told that they didn't do food. I cannot think of another pub nowadays that doesn't do food. We had a drink and had the place to ourselves. This was a Friday lunchtime! A couple came in and asked for food,... More

There was no heat in the room (alleviated somewhat by a portable heater) and no hot water from the sink and the shower for my entire stay with temperatures outside below freezing. When I complained, the owner was rude and said "these things happen". Also, the room was advertised with a "private adjacent bathroom". The bathroom was in fact not... More

Nice atmosphere, always quite empty which makes it a good place to take someone for a drink and chat! Used to come here with my Ex for drinks in the evening (a girl, .. .. I emphasise because Someone told me this was a gay bar, so yeah..) it was lovely! Staff are very accommodating ..

As previous reviews, pub with rooms is best way to describe The Stag. At it's pretty close to the centre, parking was the nearby multi-storey but quite good for a wander around the town. Room was clean and staff friendly but the pub does not do food so you will need to look elsewhere. Overall it was ok for a... More

The smell of urine, the festering shower curtain and the cold water dribbling... More

We stayed here because it was a free nights stay as compensation after complaining about their sister hotel. Not a bad location but no on site parking. Bathroom was just a shower that took forever to get hot with a rancid shower curtain, a half sink and a loo - tiny The room was boiling hot and not clean at... More

This is a pub turned into a guesthouse, The room was very small but had everything I needed. It was clean with a comfortable bed, fresh crisp linen, great lighting, and was nicely decorated. The shower room was small and the shower had nowhere for you to put anything. It is on a busy road without double glazing so there... More
