We visited Edam and Volendam and stayed in this hotel for one night. It was in such a picturesque location situated between canals and charming little shops. The hotel was clean, homey, warm and inviting. One of the owners spent considerable time chatting with us which was really nice. I'd highly recommend it to everyone!

We stayed for one night and we love it. Dinner was very good. We felt like "home". The town of Edam is very nice and the sensation we felt was peace. The hotel is composed by several typical houses, surrounded by the canals and a beautiful garden.

I can't say enough good things about this place! If you like a unique and friendly experience, this hotel is for you. Having stayed for 4 nights at the historic and charming Hotel de Fortuna, any place else just seems so ordinary. The property dates back 400 years; so, you expect the room size to be small. But surprisingly there... More

The De Fortuna was Great once again. The staff at the Hotel was very friendly and helpful. The happily accommodated every request and made many recommendations to help make our stay even more enjoyable. We had been to Amsterdam on previous visits to the Netherlands, but it had been awhile. Edam in only a short 20 minute bus ride from... More

This is a beautiful little hotel in the beautiful town of Edam. Right by the canal very close to the centre of town so it is easy to walk around on a nice summers evening. The welcome from the staff was warm and the room was very clean. Our room was however very small and perhaps a little too much... More

After 10 days exploring in the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam we headed off by bus (Waterland ticket) September 8th to tour Edam, Volendam and Marken. We took with us a change of shirt, jammies and our toothbrushs just in case. Boy are we glad we did! We hopped off the bus first in Edam..so quiet and quaint and while... More

We stayed at this hotel in July of 13. I usually arrive at a hotel with a smile on my face because I'm happy to be in a new European town or village. I'm normally met with a smile in return. Not so at Hotel de Fortuna--and I'm not sure why? The greeting wasn't rude by any means, but rather... More

The setting for this place is idyllic. We loved the restaurant with its excellent food and great character. We also loved coffee and dutch apple cake at the canalside. Unfortunately the rooms are basic and cheaply furnished, and the lack of sound insulation between rooms meant that our sleep was disturbed.

The hotel is situated at an excellent location next to the canal. we had a chair and a table outside our room facing the two canals and it was very nice and relaxing. Rooms were small but clean and cozy. Breakfast was great and dinner amazing especially when sitting next to the canal... we had the osombuco in wine sauce...... More

Edam is a lovely village certainly worth visiting. The hotel is small and very charming. The location is right next to one of the small canals. The room was small and simple, but clean and cosy. The food was excellent, but the waiters unfortunately not very professional. A lot of forgetfulness, lack of attention and basic mistakes. All in all... More
