The castle has been carefully renovated, mostly everything inhouse is new except the overwhelming staircaise and the spacious bathroom of 1928 which can be booked separately (a touch of Art Deco). The rooms are nicely furnished with a view over the Lake of Constance or into the huge park. Food in the restaurant is delicious and follows the seasons (organic... More

For a three day weekend away after 3 weeks of working in Kenya and even in the fog of winter, Schloss Wartegg was a haven. Peaceful and tranquil; delicious food of great imagination, and mostly from the hotel garden; and comfortable rooms made for a wonderful retreat. The young staff in the hotel and restaurant were friendly, excellent and just... More

We chose this hotel as it was nearby to Bodensee Lake. Not located close to the town but behind on the hillside. You could walk down through the extensive grounds and woods to the railway line then cross over to the lakeside. The railway station would have been a fairly long walk. We drove down to the station in five... More

Our room was large with a patio off the bathroom. Marble fireplace with hardwood floors gave you the feel of a castle room. Beautiful outdoor seating for the restaurant made it a great place to have dinner. Staff was helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Shortfalls were limited English speaking staff (we got by), and no WiFi. Great historic site,... More

Schloss Wartegg was the best hotel experience during my trip to Switzerland. I was greeted warmly by the owners, and found out a bit about the interesting history of the Schloss. It was saved from being demolished and renovated into one of the first eco-friendly hotels in the area, along with a delicious organic restaurant. I stayed in a lovely... More

I am not sure who this hotel is aimed at. The rooms were small and with luggage even smaller. There is one chair and a low pallet for the bed. It is minimalist design, shower no bath, and a large price tag which does include breakfast. No wifi, no bathroom accessories other than a gel pump. Bring your own stuff.... More

A perfect place for romantic couples, away from the city noise, dust and filth. Here you are pampered back to nature with excellent "BIO" ingredients in all its finest details with the "Flair" of the "French" cuisine served by a most friendly professional "Mâitre d'hôtel" named Günter.......................Thanks also to the friendly staff at the Front Desk.

This hotel was the most dissapointing on our 2 week trip. The outside is very promising as the building is beautiful and the grounds are spectacular (even in winter). What is disturbing is the renovation they did inside. Think what would happen if Ikea designed a prison (or a mental institute). Our second bedroom consisted of a glorified mattress on... More

Old castle that has been renovated to house a hotel and seminar facility for local cultural events. Because of the latter the flair is more like a school than a luxury hotel. For example, internet service is only available (at no charge) in the seminar rooms (if not occupied). Surrounded by old park with impressive old trees but not very... More

We stayed here with out twin 6 year old daughters for a long weekend after reading a recommendation in Lonely Planet. The schloss has been sympathetically restored but in a modern style, and the quality of the refurbishments to the fabric of the building are fantastic. The restaurant is now open and is good, and uses produce from the hotel's... More
