We recently stayed at this hotel as a stop on a hiking trip. It is a family run hotel which provides excellent service, wonderful food, and amazing views of the mountains. It is a climb up from the little city of Braunwald, but I believe you can arrange a pick up by the hotel. We would definitely stay at this... More

We were out of luck getting a ride up to the hotel (20 minutes stiff walk from the funicular railway station) but were well rewarded for our efforts once we were greeted and shown to our rooms which had the most amazing views of any we stayed in throughout our 17 day hike through the Swiss alps. Very good service!

Yes, we keep coming back. It was again the best part of our vacation,,,,,I know Alexander has nothing to do with the scenery ,, weather,,but he/the staff has everything to do with your satisfaction at the hotel. We especially enjoy the personal service from all of the staff. When meeting them in the hall, kitchen staff and all of the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in late August and it was heavenly. Alexander and his family and team were so helpful and genuine in their efforts to make our stay wonderful. We wanted to do the klettersteigen on nearby Eggstock mountain, and they were able to put us in touch with the right people who could answer our questions... More

Fabulous views, food and service make this family run lodge in the Glarus region of Switzerland an excellent choice. We stayed here two nights, as an extended family in two rooms, with a half board option - breakfast and a five-course dinner each day. We were picked up at the funicular by the hotel's horse-drawn carriage. Rooms and common areas... More

This delightful hotel has everything to recommend it. From the moment you arrive the atmosphere is warm and friendly. It feels very much like a family concern. Mr Stuber, the owner, speaks perfect English, and he and his family (3 generations!) and staff are all helpful and patient. Our excellent bedroom was on the top floor with the most amazing... More

This was our second visit to the Toediblick. Braunwald is a carless village perched on the side of the mountain above the Linthal valley with fantastic views of the Glarus Alps. The Toediblick has lovely, spotlessly clean rooms, each named after one of the mountains which can be seen from the balconies. It is a three-star hotel, so the accommodation... More

My wife and I visited again in 2010, I think it was our 8th visit, going back to the old hotel. Some of the discomforts some people realize, I cherish. Fond Memories are made from experiences some not so comfortable. I was 74 years old and my wife 68 when we made our last trip. It is only because I... More

We went here on the strong recommendations of other TAers, but were, unfortunately, really disappointed. First of all, Braunwald is not really a "charming mountain village" but more like a collection of sprawled-out buildings on the side of a hill. It is more like depressed West Virginia mountain town. Okay, that might be exaggerating - the scenery is gorgeous, but... More

Dear Mr. JuddS I really feel sorry that you had to experience such bad feelings about your stay in beautiful Braunwald. The village as well as our hotel seems not to have met your expectations, even if one as well as the other are quite specifically described in their respective sites as what they are: unpretentious, family (and therefore children)...
