We stayed here for 2 nights after arriving from the US. We caught a cab from the train station to the hotel which was inexpensive. The rooms were nice, decent sized rooms and bathrooms which had good blow dryers and shampoo. We had dinner there both nights and it was good plus we liked our server. The breakfast included bread,... More

My wife and I stayed here as the start of the short camino on the French route. It was a little difficult to find but it is in a lovely area near a river. Like all Spanish hotels the welcome was underwhelming, Fortunately the room was very nice and breakfast was adequate. There are plenty of restaurants nearby for dinner.

We started our Camino walk in Sarria and spent the first night at the Hotel Alfonso IX. Hotel is conveniently located a block off the Camino and close to restaurants, cafes, and bars in town. The rooms were large and clean, hotel staff friendly and bilingual. Best part of the stay was the full breakfast which was included in our... More

In September 2013 three of us stayed here for one night prior to starting the Camino. The hotel seems to be popular as a party, wedding venue and when we arrived three functions were already in progress. The street where the hotel is situated is not very impressive but the hotel itself has nice grounds and the building is substantial. We... More

The Carris Alfonso in Sarria was our choice from which to start the Camino de Santiago. It's a good hotel, well appointed and our room was very comfortable and clean. It's in a great location beside the river where you can just pop over the bridge to a fine selection of eateries with everything from the Menu del Peregrino (€9... More

This is a rather dull but clean and functional hotel. A fairly good base from which to start the camino but not very inspiring. The breakfast was ok and the dinner not bad, but the staff were a little less than friendly. Frankly, they all seemed a little bored with their work...

We stayed here for one night as part of our Camino cycling trip. It is very comfortable with a good spread at breakfast - very welcome as previously we'd just had coffee and bread. There is a small outdoor pool. Approached from the Camino the location doesn't look much, but at the other side it opens onto the river and... More

We decided to try the camino before we got too old so the last 115km was a good idea. The hotel was our first night and was very nice luxury room to send us on our way. Spacious room with nice bathroom area. Hotel staff very helpful, right on the camino route and within a couple of minutes of some... More

Room was spotless and spacious and lovely modern bathroom divided into 2. Had 'menu del pelegrino' for dinner - 13 euros and quite good, attractive dining room and staff friendly. Excellent breakfast buffet. Only flaw was stroppy receptionist who said we owed for a beer when we had paid for it in cash. Small pool. Good location - nice to... More

Hotel was clean and quiet, close to restaurants and the start of the Camino. The lobby is a little pretentious and overdone giving the impression that the room would be better than it was. Our room reeked of disinfectant but luckily we were able to open the window to air it out.
