Excellent basic clean accommodation. Welcoming friendly staff! Very close to train station which is handy and close to bars and restaurants too. Would definitely recommend to others. Rooms are of decent size and en suite. Comfortable beds and very reasonably priced.

Night before starting El Camino. The lady in the photo shop next to hotel acts as receptionist and it's super helpful. She was a great concierge, helped me to get the bag service for the entire Camino, they offer dinner at family run restaurant and includes the ride, good option if you are tired. Hotel was ok, clean, safe and... More

It is not a casa but a pension that I would class as less than one star. We were booked in by a tour company on a bedvand breakfast basis but they do not have any breakfast. Also it is had to find as it is only a door way with a very small Casa Matias sign on the wall.... More

My main criticism is the lack of reception. Hiking into Sarria I rocked up to hotel Casa Matias and find it deserted. Of course it's siesta time! The fact is the hotel has no reception area in the building. I'm guessing the building was formerly an apartment building converted into a hotel. There was a sign at the entrance with... More

I thought long and hard about this review… I did not like the town of Sarria… at… all! I found it a less than attractive and unfriendly town. Compound that with this hotel’s location being in a section of town that seemed to us to be the most run-down and dirty part. I am really trying not to let those... More

Both albuerge/ pensiones are are in Sarria and owned by Jose Santiago. I stayed in the room shown and he came in 10 minutes to fix the banyo. He fetched us to have dinner at his albuerge Barbadelo which 3.5 km away and along the Camino trail with a pastoral setting.

Sarria itself is not a pretty town - lots of high rise buildings and not very clean. The hotel is situated about a 10 minute walk to the main square where the church is. Rooms are clean. You need to go to the photoshop next door to check in, pay your bill etc which is closed during siesta so if... More
