We had not visited since 2000 when the hotel was owned by Richard Branson. We were interested to see how things might have changed under the ownership of Orient Express. We were not disappointed. The only changes were the new suites built on the hillside behind the spa and a new entrance drive which makes arrival by car rather easier.... more

I read several reviews here before booking La Residencia and most are pretty accurate. We generally enjoyed our holiday, but as others mention, there are things to be aware of. There is absolutely no doubt the hotel is in a lovely and unique setting... the hilly backdrop is fantastic as many people describe. The rest depends on what you expect... more

€18 FOR 2 PIECES OF CHEAP WHITE BREAD AND 1 SLICE OF HAM, WHAT AN INSULT! And that was about the cheapest thing on the menu. Not only that but the selection was so limited you didn't really have much choice. If you go to La Residencia, don't eat there, the food is lousy and the prices outrageous. Go where... more

La Residencia is set in a spectacularly beautiful village that still retains the feeling of the 'real' Mallorca, despite the shops and restaurants that cater solely for strangers who have bought the expensive villas that now seem to litter the mountainside. The hotel itself caters for those who seem to have more money than sense, being ridiculously overpriced and ,... more

We chose La Residencia for our honeymoon as we had always heard fabulous reviews from friends/family. It did not disapoint. From our arrival at the hotel, where we were met with a glass of champagne as we checked in [whilst relaxing in the lounge], to the walk through the hotel grounds to our room. The running commentary from the bellboy... more

Lovely building made in stone, smily staff (althoug often all smiles with not much results), good food and great wines! But the location is far from the sea and far from anything much to do, especially if you take young children , they will be bore to tears. It is alos very expensive for anything and everything, which I guess... more

I've been to La Residencia a few times now and can honestly say it's the best hotel I've stayed at (and there have been a few). Service is first class and discreet - there is nothing worse than being fawned over constantly band they get it just right with help at your fingertips whenever you need it but room to... more

La Residencia is a very special hotel. We loved the views of the tan and green rustic village from all over the hotel. You really felt like you were in the heart of Spain! It is 45 minutes from Mallorca, we only went once, but found it too touristy and heard the beaches were mobbed. While La Residencia is not... more

We have enjoyed La Residencia for years and it never ceases to be the most relaxing European destination. From the room (we always take a junior suite, usually the same one), to the gardens and pool to lunch and dinner in the restaurants it offers a mix of luxury, sophistication and utter relaxation. We've stayed in winter and summer and... more

Spent 3 wonderful nights here in late November. We had a corner room in the main (old) building on the top floor (lots of stairs) - our room had masses of character and charm: wooden beams, big lamps, antique furniture and lovely original paintings. The gardens are really lovely and the situation in the village with views of the mountains,... more
