What a week at Hostal Colonia! We arrived late on Saturday but Juan greeted us and made us feel right at home. We'd missed dinner, but he graciously allowed us to order salad and brucetta. Breakfast of fresh apricots and other fruits, eggs, cheeses, yogurt...perfect! Dinners (half board was the way to go) were always a pleasure...soup,salad, main course, and ice... More

The position is great near the port away from big hotels with lovely little beach 5 mins away.My single room was small but had aircon a fridge a tv and bathroom - excellent value . I stayed here on an organised swim trip. The owner Juan and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed in an apartment opposite the hotel so I can't speak for the quality of the hotel rooms. But other people on the trip were happy! The location is great - close to two separate beaches. The restaurant... More

Two years on from my previous review of the Colonial, all factors which contributed to my 5 star rating are still there.Great owner and excellent service from friendly staff, good food, great value for money[especially the half board option] and handy location make this the perfect place to stay in this charming ,unspoilt resort. An added bonus is the renovated rooms with much... More

Great hostal, even a two **-Hotel in my eyes. Room and bath room were newly renovatd (we had room nr. 1). People are super friendly, breakfast is good, supeb tapas evening on Thursdays (you pack 2€ for a tapas + drink). Great ice cream - always busy, a lot of people (tourists and spanish). You can walk to the eastern... More

We stayed at this hotel from 8 to 12 September 2012. Juan, the owner is really great and it is his energy and personal commitment that makes the hotel have a family feel. The food is served on a set menu basis and it is delicious. We were in the middle of the town so the views from any room... More

If carlsberg did Hostals then this would be the place, its marvellous, air con, close to two beaches, in a great little port. My room was en suite, with TV with most european channels, cleaned every day above a bar and gelateria"ice cream parlour" I have stayed in many spanish hostals and this is one of if not the best,... I can only echo the previous review. We stayed at Hostal Colonial for 4 nights when visiting Colonia for the Triathlon. We usually stay in larger hotels but chose the Hostal on the strength of the reviews and its situation in town only minutes from the beach. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room complete with balcony and... More

I stayed here for 3 nights in April with my partner; we picked the Hostal based on other reviews and we were not disappointed! The room was very clean with TV, small fridge and a small balcony with chairs. The owner and all the people working in the gelateria/bar/restaurant were very friendly. Definitely the best thing about the Hostal was... More

We booked this hostal after reading other reviews and spent a week here in October 2011. As mentioned in other reviews the great things about the hostal are the food (we were half board and the breakfast and evening meals were brilliant value and we didn't leave a thing), the cleanliness of the hostal and the friendliness of Juan, his...
