This small hotel on a cobblestoned street in the historical centre of beautiful Ubeda deserves its high praise. Not only for its tasteful renovation of a very old building but for its delightful owner, Jorge. Jorge was extremely welcoming and helpful and clearly passionate about both his hotel and town. Our room was quite small but very comfortable and well... More

Jorge, the owner of this hotel, greets and welcomes guests to his hotel personally. He has such pride in and affection for his hotel and the town and his enthusiasm is catching. The hotel is in a charming old building but does not miss out on any creature comforts. Our beds were comfortable and cosy, the rooms clean, the bathroom... More

This is a charming destination! We really enjoyed the interior décor, the comfortable remodeling of an ancient building, the individually named few rooms and the impeccable service. We were helped by a staff member who clearly loves his town and wants to help people experience the best of it--best times to see monuments, best times to enjoy certain restaurants. We... More

Can't recommend this hotel enough. Charm charm charm. Service service service. One of the nicest 'hotels' we stayed in during our 15-day trek through Spain. Jorge (owner) was fanstastic - such a classy gentleman. Showed us the ropes upon checkin and we never saw him again until breakfast the next day. Excellent breakfast in a classy room with a view... What a disaster! When we checked in, we were met by someone who did not speak any English. She showed us to our room, which was not what we had reserved. Of course, one can not complain or argue if one cannot speak the language so we accepted the room. We had a bed that was no longer than about... More

Hotel Afan de Rivera is located just a quick walk away from the city center. We were most impressed by the proprietor; he took great pride in his establishment and it showed! He was kind, helpful and made us feel at home. The breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. The rooms were extremely clean, air conditioned, and beautifully decorated. I... More

Jorge is a wonderful and welcoming host. This hotel is a gem in an out of the way but historic city. Get away from the crowds and enjoy peace and a night walking the Renaissance plaza, after a delicious breakfast. The charming hotel and room is comfortable and nicely appointed. We spent 3 weeks in Andalucia, and this hotel is... More

I was always taught not to give top marks to anything because there is always room for improvement so I´m breaking all the rules by giving Hotel Afan de Rivera top marks! It´s the best small hotel we have ever stayed in, full of personality, charm and character. As many have remarked, the breakfast is simply exceptional. Jorge is full... More

My husband and I just spent a wonderful two nights in this most charming XIV century home . Besides being beautifully appointed, the best is Jorge, owner and chef! What marvelous breakfasts and how he pampers you and helps with special diatery requests. The location is absolutely fantastic, step out the door and you are in the main square and... More

Very good stay. Great location near the historic district and all major sights within easy walking distance. The owner was very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to make us feel at home. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, with lots of home-made and local produce (I particularly liked the home-made red pepper jam). The building itself is about 800... More
