We stopped for a late lunch without a reservation and the gentleman owner was so gracious and welcoming. His wife offered a few menu items and while she prepared our meal he took us on a tour of the hotel, grounds and wine facility. All are spotless. We were the only lunch guests and were treated to the best meal... More

Wonderful location, comfortable room. Dinner on the first night good, on the second night my fish was so small, my husband shared his dinner with me. (I do not have a large appetite) The owners ignored us totally - to the extent of passing on the stairs with no acknowledgement. We wondered whether we had offended them in some way?... More

My wife and I stayed for three nights at the Quinta. Finding it was a effort (finding anything in this region is a challenge!) but well worth it. The location is peaceful and tranquil. The hospitality was amazing. Special thanks to Andre and Paula, and, of course, Carlos and Beatriz the winery owners who also were there on the property.... More

My husband and I stayed at the Quinta do Silval in early June 2014, and it was a magical, beautiful place. Built on a promontory in the midst of rolling hills of terraced grapevines and olive trees, it seems suspended in space, surrounded on all sides by breathtaking views. Lovely pool, very comfortable room, amazingly friendly and attentive staff, and... More

We stayed there for a couple of nights recently. What can one say? The setting surrounded by vineyards is idyllic. Staff very attentive and competent. The owners who also run the vineyard are charming and extremely helpful in every way - including setting up tours of other vineyards in the area. Menu for dinner changes daily and is very well... We only stayed for one night and it was our most peaceful day/night of our two week trip of Portugal and Spain. It was really relaxing sitting by the pool, admiring the beautiful view of the valley. There was only one other couple staying there that night, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. The small staff... More

Words cannot describe the beauty of this gem - you really need to see and experience it for yourselves. Spectacular views, lovely hotel, exceptional service, great wine and good food - who could ask for more. Celco, the jack of all trades could not have been more accommodating, and took care of all of our needs. Would highly recommend!

This small hotel has the most gorgeous view in the Douro valley. However, that is the high point. The hotel appears fairly new and well maintained but the decor is old-fashioned to the point of very dowdy. Service is poor. Food is simply horrible and expensive. There is a pool, which is a plus. However, this was our one disappointment... More

A place where you can rest, spend time with your family, enjoy Douro's environment and have a great taste of their own wine. Great food to have at the balcony. Most sympathetic persons who take care of you as if you belong to the family. 6km from Pinhao, 8km from Favaios, 9km from Alijo. Really near of a vast number... More
