Quirky, historical, charismatic, but ultimately deeply disappointing. Even Wellington would have been saddened....and his people fought and died for a better Portugal. Someone with vision could turn this into a Palace, but at present it's a relic...

This wonderful palace with amazing architecture in a stunning forest offers rooms at surprisingly low prices when you consider the unique setting. We paid 95 euros for a double room with breakfast. But like other reviewers, we found the room rather poor quality compared with the surroundings. We're glad we stayed there but don't expect luxury for 95 euros. The... More

We stayed at the Bussaco Palace Hotel for one night last week. The building and its interior are amazing. When we drove, up we asked a tour bus driver who was parked in front of what appeared to be a castle, where the hotel was. He turned to this magnificent castle, pointed his finger towards it and said "there is... More

Loved the venue and the hiking trails. Dinner was delicious and the local wine was something to remember. Our room was very disappointing though. Toilet seat was broken, room was small and had not been improved for many years. Bottom line - go to the hotel to experience the location but don't expect much from the room. Wifi only worked... This is a unique hotel located in a historical masterpiece, the Bussaco palace. The building is an absolute delight from the architecture point of view, a fairy-tale neo-Manuelline palace built around a convent in the middle of a private nature reserve. The rooms have a slight 70s feel to them, and are not completely updated but in fact this fits... More

As you probably already know, the hotel used to be the last palace of Portuguese kings, located in the middle of a sacred forest. The neo-gothic masterpiece of Luigi Manini and the surroundings are simply breathtaking. You can easily spend an hour simply walking within and around the palace admiring the azulejos and other decor, and many hours wandering in... More

The Bussaco Palace Hotel is considered one of the most beautiful historical hotels of the world. Its magnificent architecture (by acclaimed Italian architect Luigi Manini - in the neo-manueline style), the protected surrounding forests ("Mata do Bussaco") and the scenic backgrounds are awesome. Blue tiles - in the real Portuguese tradition - tell the legends of this brave people and... More

What a venue. Magnificent buildings, and so impressive approach and gardens. We thought we would try lunch and we were so pleased. The pleasure of eating in an open air environment with the comforts of a highly skilled restaurant team and environment. This hotel has old fashioned style whilst serving the best of modern and very tasty food and good... More

This is an old Convent turned into a four star Hotel, located almost in the middle of the great forest of the Buçaco. To visit this hotel, after you have visited the Military Museum, than turn right and after a 200 meters you have the entrance from the Buçaco Forest. Attention this because when entering this place you can do... More
